Application lock or Carrier Network SIM lock?

Application lock is a lock that prevents unsecured software from being installed on your phone. This is done usually by a Registry change/hack. Google yur phone model and "Application unlock".

Network(Carrier) SIM lock prevents you phone from being used a carrier other(SIM Card) than the carriers SIM card the phone is locked too.

You can Network unlock most phones by buying an UnLock code off ebay, cheaper, or website by just supplying the phones IMEI code under the phones battery. They will tell you where to find it, and will email you the unlock code from the IEMI code provide.
