Grannynettle, I have the same problem. Does your machine make a buzz sound when you try to turn it on after it stops. I have to turn the drum by hand and then it will start again. I have changed the front felt glide and greased the rear drum bearing, thinking that there was too much stress on the motor. The problem is getting worse though.

Trydisndat, any Idea of what it could be

Thermal fuse may have gone bad. When this fuse goes bad your dryer may not come on at all or just the heat element in your case i'd check for an open thermal fuse. Then we ca go from there. By the way if you keep stuff on top of it such as clothes take them off and don't store anything on top. Store clothes on top ot it will cause it to over-heat and thermal fuse damage is the result

I have the same problem, and after ohming out the thermal limiter, it looks fine. The door light comes on and it makes the buzz. So I assume I can rule out the door and start switches.

Samsung Dryer dv203aes/xac will not heat. Drum is rotating and lint was cleared from exhaust.

Check the following:
1. Does it have 220 volts (yes it runs, but dryers run on 110 volts)?
2. Check the heating element and the safety thermostats located on the heat element canister. Low air flow from any restriction like lint build up or mashed ducting or blocked air exhaust vent cap can either trip the safety stats or burn out the element. Clean dryer and exhaust ducting thoroughly and replace bad parts before placing back in service. Poor air flow is the number one problem with "No Heat" dryer issues.

there is a cycling thermostat in line with the high limit thermostat and timer circuit,on timed dry its disabled and the timer will run no matter what,on any sensor dry setting it uses the heat of the element to heat this cycling thermostat to move the timer as the clothes get drier as the heating element heats the timer doesn't move, when the heater cycles off from the high limit thermostat then timer moves again, you need to find out if its a bad heating element, thermal fuse or possibly even a circuit breaker in the homes electrical panel tripped out on one of the 2 phases that gives you the 240 volts required to operate the dryer element, the breaker may not show its tripped,so shut it off and back on and try this first

Dryer keeps shutting off

If it's shutting off while it's running, it's probably the thermal overload fuse tripping and cutting off the power. This could be caused by a number of things, so if you can post back with the following information, I can assist you further more easily.

1. Your brand and model of dryer
2. Does the dryer turn back on quickly or do you have to wait about 15-30 minutes?
3. Is it making any unusual noises?

Thank you.

No Heat

You can do a few tests your self first cheak the breaker box on the house snap it back and forth a few times then run dryer if that does not work you can cheak the thermal cut off located on the rear of dryer .Remove the rear panel and on the right side you will see your element housing the thermal cut off is the top thermostat on the housing join the wires together and run dryer. If that does not work then you may have a bad element.

Heats & drys fine but stops running after a long period of use and won't start back up right away. I assume it is cooling down then will run again.

Your dryer vent needs to be cleaned. Also, pull out the dryer and clean the part of the vent entering into the dryer from the back. This will cause the unit to cut out on thermal lockout.
