Question about Apple Mac Laptops

IDVD: Problems with burned DVD.

I created a pretty hefty little project with iMovie and iDVD: a 30 minute movie with three menus including the root title menu, chapter selection, and a photo slideshow.

During the burning, there were no problems: no error messages, it seemed to take an appropriate amount of time, came out okay, and everything seemed good!

However, when I tried to play the DVD in my Mac, it had trouble. The DVD player kept giving me a "skipping over damaged area" message. When I tried to play it in my friend's PC, it made it to the title menu but wouldn't play the actual movie.

I tried burning a new DVD several more times and finally got a version where everything works except the chapter selection menu, which won't let me select a chapter and play from there. I don't think this is acceptable from a brand new Macbook Pro. It should be able to handle burning a DVD project of this caliber!

What do you think my problem is?

Try burning the DVD at the slowest possible speed. Also, if your burner supports it, burn it to DVD+R media; not -R or RW. DVD players can be pretty picky about the movies that they play. Let me know if this works....thanks.

Try a different brand of blank DVD.
If that doesn't work any better, and your MacBook Pro is in fact "brand new," bring it to the Apple Store, because you have warranty redress.

How to save a movie from iDVD to anything other than .dvdproj

Hi KirkIt's because iDVD is designed purely to make DVDs - nothing else. iMovie is used to make the movies and you should be able to play those on a PC without issue. Alternatively, choose Burn DVD from the file menu and then play the resulting dvd on the PCV.

G4 17" Powerbook. DVD PROBLEM. I

Restart your computer after you are done exporting a project and burning it to a DVD. For some odd reason the whole computer lags after exporting/rendering projects. Same thing happens to me when I do video editing/special effects work.
Once you have restarted your computer, try watching the DVD again. If the problem still persists, try using a different codec when you export the FCP project as a SELF-CONTAINED movie and make sure to RE-COMPRESS ALL FRAMES if the problem still persists.

MacBook pro 08 idvd will not burn to blank -R dvd

Go click on the apple logo at the top left of the screen. Then click on About this mac. Then click on More info. Then click on Disc Burning.

It will tell you what DVDs the optical drive will burn. If no info shows up, then you got a bad connection or need to clean the optical drive laser lens or your optical drive is about dead so you may have to buy a new optical drive.

How to burn AVCHD Lite to DVD on Mac OS X?

AVCHD-Lite, which is a subset of the AVCHD format popularized by hard disk camcorders from Sony, Panasonic, and Canon, uses h.264 video coupled with AAC audio for recording movies. AVCHD Lite video is currently used by Panasonic DMC-ZS3, Panasonic DMC-FZ3, Sony, Cannon AVCHD Lite Camcorder, etc.
26b78f7afa860b1f_2_197_.jpg The main differences between AVCHD Lite and the regular AVCHD: a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720p in AVCHD Lite compared to 1920 x 1080p in regular AVCHD and a less-intensive compression method - both of which make the format more suitable for less powerful camera hardware.
What you need to burn AVCHD Lite to DVD on Mac OS X?

I made a movie on my mac laptop with Imovie and I can't seem to burn it to a dvr correctly?

OK ..basically you need to get it from iMovie to IDVD. There you can burn a DVD. What I would do is this.
(You need the application iDVD on your laptop to do this). Open iMovie HD(my Great Movie). The word File is no the top. Scroll down to Export..chose iDVD on the right and click Share. It will launch the iDVD application. Then when you have put what you want in iDVD you can burn a DVD with one click of the icon. Here is a very excellent tutorial on how to use iDVD and burn to a DVD http://www.apple.com/ilife/idvd/ another way to do this is to export the movie to Quicktime rather than iDVD save it as a file..then go to iDVD. Open that and import that quicktime file and then burn the DVD. I am not sure which is better. I would try both.

Memory

How much memory do you have available? (Are you sure the Trashbin is empty). I have mooved all music to external harddisk to free up space. I have found that the computers work best if the have atleast 40% free space. You can also try to move the imovie files to external HD and burn from there.

Good luck.
