Very loud squeaky noise on Kenmore dryer model 417.80042990. Seems like it's coming from the back. Is there a way to lubricate it?

Yes there is you'll have to get high temp lubricant or grease. Here is how to get to it. first check this site out to help you see and recognize the parts Check out items 1851 and 774936. This is were you need to get to. First remove small access panel on rear after unplugging from power source of course. Reach in and undo belt. Then look at the very bottom of your front panel if you see two screws lay the dryer down on it's back and remove the screws. Lift the bottom a bit to see door switch wires undo them and remove front panel it will hook in at the top under the main top. Then unscrew the 3 screws inside the drum in the middle and pull drum out. note the 2 items I have given you item 1851 slides out of the cup(774936) apply high temp grease and replace item 1851 and put it back together. If you don't have the 2 screws at the very bottom of the front panel for removing then the other way to open it is by prying the main top up with a wide flat screw driver toward edges between main top and front panel then removing 2 screws on the inside of the front panel toward top then unhooking at bottom. To facilitate belt replacement I use small scotch tape pieces to tape the belt to the drum so that when you have it back together and you re-stand the dryer you can reach in from the rear access panel to re-attach belt to motor and tensioner. If this scares you too much you may call me and i would be glad to walk you through it. My name is James 417-926-0106. I hope these directions help and you have a successful fix. This type of problem is very simple. Do not forget to re-connect your door switch wires or it won't run at all. Good Luck

Look at back and get model number and search google how to replace bearing. Go to utube and search replace dryer bearings on different models. Very easy to take apart, if you use dolly and cart it into a large room. Anyways, take apart and GREASE bearing. Use high temp grease if you can, maybe the car break grease would be acceptable, small pack very cheap. Should not need to replace bearing but if you do, order part online, not much $$. Ask your neighbor to do this for you, if you can not. Not need a special repair person for this task, beleive me.

you might need a new roller on the back of the drum, As for being louder when warm it's the part getting hot from Friction that is wearing the roller or roller pin down.

We have a loud squeaky noise coming from what seems the back of the dryer on the left side while the drum is spinning. The model number of the kenmore dryer is 11087562601. We cleaned out the vent system....

Hi chazt3

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if you have to.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer by removing two screws located on either side of the top of the dryer housing and unplug the door switch.
This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots they will make a thumping type of noise or if there is too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vaseline.
Reassemble the dryer.
Plug back into your electrical receptical.
This should solve your noise problem.

My Maytag Depenable Care Gas Dryer has become very squeaky when the barrell spins. i took off the front panel and sprayed WD-40 on the backsides with the Plastic wheels and it went away for about 10...

Probably best to grease the wheels (called drum support rollers) rather than use WD-40 because that strips away the lubrication. It will also pay to check the drum support glides under the front of the drum. Worst case you may have to replace the support rollers.

Squeaky 4-yr old Frigidaire gas dryer

it's most likely the rear bearing that the drum rides on in the rear of dryer, you'll need the model number located around the door opening to order the right part.

My dryer is making a very loud squeaky noise. Is is the motor or something else?

Not the motor if it's still working. The noise is coming from the bushing that hold the drum in place.
