Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP Officejet J5780 All-In-One Won't print double sided with Vista

Hi

When I try to print double sided using Vista, my j5780 printer prints out the odd pages and then just sits there. I press the OK button on the printer itself but no joy, it still sits there saying printing on the little display. I don't even get a pop up on my screen saying to turn the paper round and re-insert or anything like that. I have chosen manual and manually in the printing preferences and control panel tabs. There is no option to install a duplexer unit in the printer device settings tab if that's what you were going to say ;-)

I am unable to delete the job from the queue, or print anything else until I go and do the net stop spooler trick and manually delete the spool files from the spool directory.

I've got the latest Vista drivers off the HP web site.

If you can solve this you deserve the genius rating

Thanks and any help appreciated...

In other words you are saying to download and install the driver file for a deskjet 6500 printer?

I have a C3180 with the same problem. I just got off the phone with HP and they state that some models of printers 'lose' this feature when you migrate to Vista. It doesn't sound like they'll fix it or look into it any time soon. This is definitely an XP only printer. My solution - This one goes to Ebay and I buy an Epson.

You can install an instance of the Deskjet 6500 series drivers using "Add Printer", local printer, (use the same port the J5780 is installed on). You can have this co-exist with the J5780 driver and you could name it J5780 Duplex if you wish.

Yes, but you do not need to download the driver, just use the one installed already in Vista. Go to the Printers folder, Add Printer, Local Printer, (select the port the J5780 is on), select the HP Deskjet 6500 series from the menu.

If your problem was solved a "thanks for trying" rating is a bit of an insult....

Hello, My J5780 Has Just Atarted Printing

In printer properties and then in printing preferences, look for and turn off mirror image printing, it's there for printing transfers to shirts and things that you need reversed.

HP J5780 printer is printing backwards

Hello,

You may have the Mirror image turned on.

Open a job to print. Select File>Print. When the Print window opens, select Preferences, then click on the Advanced tab.

Look for the Mirror Image option. If it says ON, click on it and change it to OFF. Then click OK.

Mirror Image is mainly for iron on transfers.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Printing both side of the paper using HP Officejet J5780 All in One

Make sure that you have the duplexing option turned on in your printer configuration. The "OK" button is right below the window that shows the date and time. Have a look here:
