To clarify, you are switching to WEP from WPA on the WBR-100 because you suspect this will allow your Nintendo DS to connect to it?

First thing I would do is disable any sort of encrytio scheme whatsoever and THEN try to connect with your DS. If that fails, then it is likely you have one of the routers that just won't talk to the DS, and there are quite a few of them.

Once you have successfully connected using no encryption, then turn on wep in the setup of the router and configure your DS for the same.

For most models, browse to the 2wire's GUI by typing gateway.2wire.net into the address bar.
1) Click on the homenetwork icon.
2) Click on wireless settings
3) Enter your system password
4) Left hand side under encryption change from WPA to WEP
5) Save.

SOURCE: Switch from WEP to WPA wireless protocol

First have a computer directly plugged into the 2wire

Using windows xp: click on start> then run> then type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
You are looking for a default gateway address, usually "192.168.1.254" on 2wire gateways.

Skip the vista section if you are using xp
Using Windows Vista: click start> then click on the search bar and type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
You are looking for a default gateway address, usually "192.168.1.254" on 2wire gateways.

Once you find the gateway address, you now have the website address you need to get to your 2wire. Open internet explorer and type that default gateway address in the address bar.

This should take you to a 2wire homepage. At the top click on the "home network" or "local network" tab at the top.
Once there, click on the wireless network link at the top. It will prompt for a password, if you do not know the password, click I forgot for a hint. Click I still cannot remember if the hint doesn't help, it will ask for a system key, which is a 10-digit number on the bottom of the 2wire.

After entering the password you will be in the wireless settings window where you can change the security type to any available that the 2wire has, if it doesn't have it available call the provider and see if they have a firmware upgrade available.

SOURCE: can't find WEP key for DS

You can see the WEP key at the side or bottom of your modem. Its the 10-digit code. If it is not listed there, you need to access the Setup Page of Motorola modem. Go to internet explorer and type http://192.168.1.254

Ds lite wi fi connect wpa

Try changing your WiFi encription to WEP or no security, this should be available on your cablemodem/router web internface (need a user and password for that) under the Wireless/Security option.

DS Lite is not compatible with any other WiFi encription for online gaming: "Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3. Why can't I connect my DS Lite to my Wifi?

hi Kevin,
The ds lite uses WEP encryption, you will most probably be using wpa/wpa2 which has alot better security but is not compatible with the ds lite. I think the dsi uses wpa and therefore works. I wouldn't recommend changing your current wifi to wep just to get on the internet with the ds lite.
Hope this helps

Connecting to a "2WIRE" wifi connection. Says the

Hi,

I understand that you are having trouble connecting your Nintendo DS wirelessly to your 2Wire router. The solution is simple, your Nintendo DS only supports WEP (Wireless Encription Passkey) security. It is highly possible that your 2Wire router's wireless security is set to WPA. That means you will need to reconfigure your router so that it will be utilizing WEP as a security for your wireless connection. To be able to do this, you need a couple of information from the one who setup your router. 1. User name of your router 2. Password or your router.

Once you have gotten this information, you will need to access your router configuration page through one of the computers that is linked to your 2Wire router by typing http://gateway.2wire.net on the address bar of your browser.

It will be asking you for the username and password. If nobody had setup or changes the username and password of the router, use this default username and password of a 2Wire router. Username: (none) Password: Wireless or Username: 2Wire and Password: (none). Try any of the two. If it does not work, try admin and the word password for the password or any other combinations of the two.

Once you have entered the router's configuration page click the Home Network Tab and then click on Wireless Settings. You will see there a portion that says Wireless security. In that area, you will see a drop down where you can choose what kind of wireless security you want on your system. As I have said, the Nintedo DS does not support any other wireless security setting but WEP. That means you will need to change the drop down to WEP. That also means after changing this, you will need to reconfigure your other wireless devices (like your laptop) to use WEP as well.

Cannot find the wep key for my nintendo ds on the 2wire router

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

Connecting to Wifi at home. Error Code 51102 What

A WEP key is a Security code but for some wireless providors a WPA-TKIP or WPA"-TKIp is used instead. check your connection details to find out which one yours uses and the use the appropriate settings.
Important notes would be that if your connection is using WPA-TKIP or WPA2-TKIP then the DS or DS lite will not be able to connect because they can only use WEP keys. If the system you are using is the Nindento DSi then all you need to do is to use connections 4, 5 and 6 found in Advanced Conection Settings under the internet option in the DSi Settings menu ( remember this method is only for use with other wireless securities than WEP keys like WPA-TKIP and WPA2-TKIP.)

Nintendo DS handhelds will not work with WPA wireless encryption, only with WEP, or with unprotected wifi networks (not advised).
Check your router settings to see if they conform with the encryption allowed with the DS.

The access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS

WEP and WPA are types of security that are used to protect home wireless networks. WEP is the only security setting that works with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite. WPA and WEP are both compatible with the Nintendo DSi. If you are not sure how to find your router's WEP or WPA Key or if you have problems entering it into your Nintendo DS, try the following tips:
so if your wifi is WPA. you wont be able to use wireless
but if your wifi is WEP you can.
WEP is not recommended because it is not secure. Easy to hack

My 2wire router will not connect to my nintendo ds wifi system.

The DSi only works with WEP encryption. The 2Wire and most other newer routers use WPA encryption.

Simply logon to your router with a web browser. The default IP for it is 10.1.1.138 but it might be different, just check the manual or internet for the IP. Go to "Home Network" then "Advanced Settings" and change the security from WPA to WEP and save.

Thats it!

Hope that helps.

Nintendo ds

WPA is a very secure method of protecting the connection between your device and the router. I would guess that the DS will only support WEP, which is a much less secure encryption system.

If you want to connect your DS you will need to log on to the router and enable WEP security.

You will then need to enter the password you set in the previous stage in to the DS.
