Monitor screen is black

My monitor screen just suddenly went black. I checked if it was hooked up to my computer and plugged in, it was. If I press the power button I see my home screen of my desktop for about a second and it goes black again! Is it my computer or is it my monitor? Help! I need this asap and thank you for your help!

Mine started going blank on me about a week ago. When I press the power button, it comes back for a couple seconds then goes blank again. It takes 4 or 5 power cycles until it comes back on for good. Once this happens, it seems to stay on until I power down the PC. On restart, back to the old problem. Each time it goes blank, I hear a faint "zap" sound - and yes, the display is totally dark. I forgot to check to see if the power led goes from green to amber. The monitor only has a couple hundred hours on it. According to stuff I've read, it looks like the fix is either the power supply or replacing a bunch of capacitors. Oh joy!

Go into Device Manager and check your Video Card and see if there is a yellow/red/black? next to the device. It may just need a refresh on the device driver. Let me know.

Dell monitor screen suddenly went white. Can it be fixed?

I have a strong suspicion that you have burned a capacitor or two on the monitor. You will need to bring this in to have it serviced as it will require the monitor to be opened up and new capacitors replaced/resoldered.
