It depends on your television set but there are two common ways to do it. One way is through the menu function on your television. The other is by pressing the Channel down button on your television or remote control and the option will appear.

SOURCE: Strange message display when switched on.

The "TV ONP" message is happening because the DVD recorder is waiting for you to complete the "initial installation" on the TV (where you will select what language you want to use and a few other basic settings).

Provided that your DVD recorder is hooked up to your TV properly, you should turn on your TV and see the "initial setup" screen for the dvd recorder. Use your DVD recorder's remote control for this screen.

See page "30" in the manual that was posted for instructions on going through these screens. Note, though, that page "30" in the manual, is actually page 44 on the pdf file.

To summarize what the manual says, it basically says:
- Use the remote, pointed properly at the dvd recorder. Use the four-way pad and the "OK" button to navigate the menu.
- pick your menu language from the menu shown onscreen
- now pick your "audio language" from the menu
- now pick your "subtitle language"
- then pick your "tv shape" (e.g. widescreen or normal)
- connect your cable tv or satellite to the dvd recorder and press ok
- wait as the dvd recorder automatically programs in the available channels
- once done, "Auto ch. search complete" will appear on the screen.
- press the "SYSTEM-MENU" button on the remote to remove the menu and begin normal operation

You're done!

The recorder will loop through all the channels on your cable tv and "autoprogram" the working ones into it, so part of the instructions that you read on the manual will talk about setting that up. If you have a digital or proprietary cablebox that doesn't use the traditional TV channels (e.g. the tv is supposed to just be on channel 3 all the time), then the dvd recorder will only find that one channel, which is fine.

Dell 2407 Can't get rid of "No S-video input signal" message on screen. How do I get rid of this?

Your S-Video connection is referring to a round plug for a TV input signal. Most computers will not have this connection unless you have a TV based video card. If your using a TV 'monitor' as your computer's video device, their will either be a button on the monitor or your remote to allow you to choose the input signal. If you are using a VGA or HDMI or DVI cable as the connector between the two devices, most likely, the light is referring to one of these, as its video source. You will need to match the cable & monitor source detected to get a usable picture output.

Good luck.
Toby.

I turn on the tv and i get a blue screen for 5 seconds and the tv shuts off. Any ideas?

This is normal on vizios, ours does it too. You have it switched onto RGB input. You need to change input after it comes on. Switch on and keep pressing change input button till it changes and then it will be fine. Alternatively plug in a computer on Rgb and then turn on, you will be able to change input normally.

How do i switch my monitor to vga input?

Plug in the VGA cable to the monitor, and to the computer.

The monitor automatically determines which inputs have a valid signal source.

You can also set the monitor's source of video input to VGA, by going to the On Screen Display menu, and the Switch Video Input option.

Here is the User Manual,

The HDMI doesn't work properly

HI

The resolution is only set by the sending unit, in your case the cable box. You need to change this to at least 720P something the your TV can handle.

Now once you have down this, to try and solve your HDMI problem I suggest you do the following.

Switch-off your cable box and the TV set, unhook the HDMI cable.

Now reinsert it carefully to make sure it connects properly on both sides.

Now first switch on your TV and set the input to Video 6 ( your HDMI channel )

Now wait for 30 secs. Switching on your cable box.

Do not press anything and check if your picture now stays on without shut-down.

if the menu and other startup screens on the cable box is not flickering, but the normal picture you might have a HDMI conflict with your TV set.

O, you cannot change the input types.

Hope this helps!

Sharp TV switches to "input 2"

There's an option on the menu to tuen 'demo mode' on and off. If it's set to on, that's your problem. It will be switching input sources every 2 minutes or so. Switch this off and it'll be ok again.
