The recommendations for cleaning the lense of the laser has not yielded any better results.

I just purchased this unit from a local Radio Shack dealer, but it was a floor model and I assume that they won't honor a manufacturer's warranty. Are there any other suggestions?

Your laser is out of alignment. As suggested, if out of warranty - replace it. DVD players are pretty much dispensable these days. For $25, you can get a new one - or spend $40 (min) for repair.

This is already a sign of a lens that is getting bad, you can try to run again the cleaner and if it doesn't fix the problem you may want to consider replacing the lens of the player..

Some of this devices have 2 lenses, one to play DVDs and the other one to play CDs; both are mounted on the same assembly. In this case the lens reading the info from the DVDs became defective if and will need to be repair by replacing the assembly. This type of repair is not economical if your device is not under manufacturers warranty.

I would still suggest to go back to the vendor and ask them to give you another one since this one is defective and they should know how to deal with the manufacturers.

    Good Luck.

It seems that there is an issue with 'Lense"................
Try to use a lense cleaner ....( Usually that happens when the lense is totally wear out, Or sometimes.....if you might not have used this for a long time )......

If that would work it's great, unless you need to open it manually and need to clean the lense with a soft cotton or cloth .....

Thanks and Regards, Taran.

Make sure ..the CD that you are trying to run is not corrupted.

If the CD is running fine on other system, than there is a need to troubleshoot your Home Theatre System.

And also make sure the extension of the video file is compatible with your Home Theatre.Like mp4 and other codes are not compatible with most of the Home Theatre System. You might need to upgrade the firmware or you might need to look an alternative like change of video codes for the existing file...

    Thanks for using Fixya.

    Take care.

Hi!

Does this message displays every time you play a disk?
What type of disks are you using(DVD+RW,DVD-RW,etc)?

Try switching off and then on the unit.

C31 usually means a motor error. In your case, it sounds more like the loading sequence is not completing. Can you please confirm that the model is the DAV-FX10 system?
