Go down to the windows toolbar at the bottom of your screen, move your cursor into the center of the bar, right click, click properties, the setting is in there to make it reappear

Hi,

if you have XP, right click on the desktop and choose properties. This opens the Display properties box. Click on the Desktop tab and choose the Customize Desktop button on the bottom. In the new popup box called Desktop Items, check My Computer and click OK. It should be there now.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Icons changed to word icons

Sad day, you've somehow got all of your files associated with word and will only open in word. You should be able to go to the start menu and open up programs that way. All the shortcuts on your desktop are not going to do anything for you.

My icon disappered want on ondesktop

Do a system restore.

Press on start or the windows pearl.
Program
accessories
system tools
system restore

Select a date when your icons were still on your desktop. Launch the restore and it should come back.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks~!

I don't know how to get back my Microsoft word on my computer.

Hello, there are many posibilities your MS Word is still in your computer, If you have Windows XP click on Start menu then click on all programs, and look for Microsoft office folder, once you have your mouse over that menu, it will show all your MS Office applications, to get back your MS Word icon to the desktop, right click on Microsoft Word's icon and then click on Send to, then click on Desktop (Create A Shortcut).
Almost the same procedure is used with windows Vista/Seven: Click on start menu and type in the search box the word: 'Word', you'll see all the matches, there must be MS Word among the matches, right click on it and send the icon to desktop as a shortcut.
If you don't find The office folder nor the word Icon, is time to 'restore' your system, on Windows XP press F1 key and under the Choose a task subtitle, look for something like 'Undo previously done changes using System Restore', system restore window will appear, click on next and choose a date before the problem started happening, for example if the problem started on wednesday and your most recent restore point was on monday click on monday and start the restore process by clickng 'next' button.
The same procedure is very similar on Windows Vista and Seven, for these OSes you'll have to search for 'System Restore' in the F1 help menu and follow the instructions given.
If you're still having problems finding MS Word my recommendation is to go to a computer store and seek for professional help on the subject.
I hope these tips help, best wishes.
Have a nice day.

My computer will not open any exe files all the files on the desktop have the adobe icon and I dont know how to get my computer back to the orginal settings

Hello jlindsey23, You will need to right-click on one of the exe files and click on "open with". A dialog box will open up where you can select the program u want it to open with. Simply choose the appropriate program that it usually uses and then be sure to check the box that says "always use this program".
For each of the file type that you do this with, it will reverse all of those file types. For example, if you do this with a Microsoft word document, all of the other microsoft word document will remove the adobe icon and will be replaced with the word icon.
Repeat the same process for all other files you notice that still has the adobe icon.
Thanks and good luck to you Lolita

About a week ago i downloaded the newest version of yahoo mail and IM...which i think was yahoo 9.0 It downloaded ok....but then in a few minutes my computer went bad....and i was getting a message that...

Do you have the taskbar going along the bottom of the screen?
If so, do you see the word desktop. close near where the time is?
If so, click on the word desktop. it should open up and show you all your desktop icons.

If not let me know and we will try something else.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Desktop Icons

I believe it was a virus. If it ever comes back run hijack this (free) and have somebody take a look at the log. It will remove almost anything. You can also take a look at the task manager to make sure explorer, or any other program, isn't causing explorer to freeze and restart (it will be taking a large amount of memory or cpu usage).
