tv does not turn on, no lights, audio --no power.

  • exprtamateur May 16, 2009

Same problem - no power no lights. No idea where to start. I live in a high-lightning area, but have an arrestor on the house from the power co. and a high end filter/surge protector.

I've replaced the lamp once, been through the blinking green light of death - told it was bad capacitors, bad dm module, paid to have it fixed - continued to happen intermittently would have to unplug replug and reset in random combinations to finally get it to reset (learned to do that from a post - apparently it is some kind of sych issue with the DM Module) and I've had the bad light ballast - now this - which is NOTHING AT ALL.

For a set that is only 4-5 years old and cost what this one did - Mitsubishi should be ashamed. I will never buy a Mitsubishi product again.

I have the exact same problem.
TV was working fine (if you call having to deal with blinking lights of death and multiple starrt up errors...) - but I powered through it all.
This TV is 6 years old and started acting up after the 4-year extended warranty ran out.
This morning I went to turn it on and nothing.
Hmmm... Got my manual to count the blinking light code...
Whoops. No lights. Nothing. Checked plug. Checked power.
Uninstalled and installed lamp. Checked plug and power again.
Nothing.
Not one stinking light. No power to fan. Nothing.

How does a TV just DIE???

Hello Jeremy,

May be some IC or capacitor is damaged due to which TV is not turning on. Please contact the service center of the Sony. They will repair it properly.

I have a mitsubishi 62 in wd 62527 and the red lamp light came on and we unplugged the tv and reset the red button now no power

The red light usually means the projection lamp is bad. If you replaced it and the set still doesn't come on, then it is likely the ballast that drives the lamp is also bad. Also, if/when you do replace the lamp, make sure the access door to the lamp is fastened in properly. Other possibilities include a cooling fan failure and clogged air vents/filters. If none of these are the answer, then I would suspect problems in the power supply, usually stemming from defective capacitors which will require a technician with soldering skills to check out. Hope this helps.

Possible causes: +- 15V is not supplied. (D board), IC8003 is faulty. (A board) Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby state after horizontal raster, Vertical deflection pulse is stopped, Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped hope it helps

Just baught a new lamp and all that is happening is lamp light...

You will need to reset the lamp counter.
Begin with the TV powered off.
Point your remote towards your TV.
Press:
Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.
Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.
Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).
NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can subsitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.
To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterwards!).
