Re: Some keys of my compaq M2000 dont function
It sounds like the keyboard is bad, to fix this flip laptop over and find screws that have an image of a keyboard on it and remove them. Then flip laptop back over and see if the keyboard have any clips up by the f4 and f8 key. Push them inwards and that should allow you to pop off the keyboard. Now you may have a ribbon cable that looks like this, if it looks like that it should pop off from the pin set. If it looks like this, then you need to pop up the tabs on each side and slide the ribbon out leaving the tabs in the up position on the motherboard. Go online and find a new keyboard and replace. Make sure if its a ribbon cable that its all the way in before pushing down the tabs otherwise it wont work.

An upside down image - this is caused by unintentionalpressing Ctrl-Alt plus the down arrow key.Restore by pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the up arrow key.ALSOTo change the display from portrait to landscapePress Ctrl-Alt plus a left or right arrow key. Some computers do not have this function.
There are a couple of ways to skin this cat... first look at the keyboard, particularly the function keys, the arrow keys, the pgeUp/pgeDwn keys, etc. You should see a speaker- looking icon, that may or may not be colored the sames as your Function key. If you find one, hold the function key and press the speaker key... that should raise the volume.
Another way to change the volume is to open the Control Panel, go the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties - under Volume you will find a Speaker Volume button, Open it and set your right and left speaker volume.
