I have not yet received this recorder although I was told there would be no manual. My neighbor told me to go on google and ask before it arrives. how to operate it . I am 81 years of age and find that some of this new technology is difficult to understand. Just rying to get a heads up before the machine comes in. I've decided to wait till it's here and then try to figure how ir operates.

I thank you very much for your reply. I may still get in touch.

    Respedtfully, Marcel

I'm not sure why this solution by top_class was rated as "inappropriate"...

It is not as simple as "press play on the VHS deck and press record on the DVD player". Particularly if the VHS tapes you are trying to dub are commercial (disney, dreamworks, etc) and are macrovision protected.

How do I record my vhs tapes to Disk

I have done a lot of dubbing on my machine. First make sure the DVD is formatted. When you put in a new disc it should ask you if you want to initialize. Once that is done, switch to VCR mode. push play on the VCR then push the DUB button on the front of the machine. I hope it helps.

Want to transfer vhs tape to dvd

not sure why you would need an rca to s-video adapter, almost every dvd recorder and vhs has rca input and ouput.

anyway here is the basics to record from vhs to dvd you would connect the OUTPUT video (yellow) and right and left audio OUTPUT (red and white) to the dvd recorders INPUTS.

Insignia dvd recorder

Unfortunately, no, unless the DVD is not copy written material. Commercial DVD and VHS tapes have a built in copy protection called Macrovision. Basically, it prevents copying them with any Macrovision enabled recorder. All DVD and VHS players sold in North America are required to have Macrovision Enabled. Though there are certain players that get around this (such as the Apex AD-1500, in which Macrovision can easily be disabled), unless you research and purchase one of those specifically, you're not going to be able to avoid Macrovision, and therefore won't be able to copy anything to or from a commercial DVD or VHS tape. Hope that answered your question completely, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.

No picture while playing DVD or VHS tape

Your unit has it seems to have developed a video problem. it could be in the video switching IC or the video processor. Its going to need a trained technician, who knows how to use an ocilliscope to find the video problem.. Good Luck
