Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

Dryer keeps running and timer continues to move around dial.

The only way to stop the dryer from running is to open the door. I have a Kenmore series 80 model 110.67832791 dryer that will continue to run until the door is open. If I manualy put it to stop, it stops running but once the door is closed the timer starts clicking, the timer move to a different run setting and then starts back up.

When I put the timer on it does not move to stop. It keeps going until I manually turn it off.

kenmore 80 series all cycles work great, when the dial timer goes around to next cycle it bypasses the off position and continues running, when you open the door it stops the dryer, when you close the door dryer starts automatically, when you manually turn the dial to the off position it stops but in the middle of the cycle it will start just with closing the door

Change your timer. It has a malfunction in it. it's about a 100 dollar fix. Also your start switch may be bad.

The dryer is not heating up and the dial stops at the cool down so the dryer will not shut off by it self. Its a kenmore 70 series dryer.

you need to send the model number, open the door and look around the opening where you put the clothes into the dryer and you'll see the tag with the model number.it will start with 110. or 417.because you have no heat that's why the timer won't advance, when the heat shuts down then the timer advances when the heat comes back on the timer stops moving or advancing,no heat the timer won't move.send the model number

My Kenmore dryer series 90 continues to rum when I open the dryer door?

If the dryer stops at the end of the cycle or when you turn the dial to off,
The door switch has gone bad.
If it does not stop at the end of the cycle the timer has gone bad.

Dryer stops but the timer continues on

Fixed! The "push to start" button was stuck. Must have been some dust. I pushed the knob a few times and that's all it took. Works fine now.

Have a kenmore series 70 dryer. Won't shut off

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps

Thanks.

Dryer will not turn off

If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.

Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle:

  • The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.)

  • The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again.

This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But…if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

Kenmore dryer keeps on going and going

The timer is bad. It is located behind the knobs and can be replaced really easily. The price for a new timer is about 35 dollars. If this helped please rate

Dryer keeps running and timer continues to move around dial.

A common problem, had it happen to me.

Replace the timer control. takes about 15 minutes and the skill to remove screws, disconnect plug from old timer, remove timer, install new timer, connect plug, replace screws and panel, run dryer.

Reply the model number, and I'll get you the timer P/N.
