HP DV7 17" Display. The colors displayed are muted and look like a photo negative. Did it earlier today. Went back to normal after couple re-boots. Now doing it again

I am having the same problem and it really sucks because I'm a web designer and need to have accurate colors for my work. If anyone can offer up some solutions, please let us know.

How long have the colors on your display been "reversed/inverted" and looking like a negative....... Did you drop or damage the laptop in any way (sudden shock/bump)? Also, has it been allowed to overheat (if you run the laptop while it is sitting on a soft surface such as a bed, pillow, couch, etc it can allow the motherboard to overheat because it cannot get the airflow through the cooling system through the fan/vents because they are blocked). Have you checked to see if your laptop is included in the "HP Service Enhancement" program???

Why some graphic motherboard in Graphic card port disply came but in normal display not came

Difficult to understand your question.
If an external monitor works then the problem is Cheapest to most expensive:
MB to Power inverter cable is bad (No light to board) to check shine a flash light at you screen if still black not this
Power inverter is bad
(No light to board) to check shine a flash light at you screen if still black not this
Cable from Motherboard to Laptop screen is bad flashing on wiggle test will show flickering image
Display panel on laptop is bad if this is the case replace the Display cable/ Inverter power cable/LCD
this may still not solve the problem if you are not sure take to a local repair shop

Where is the sleep button on an HP pavilion dv7 laptop?

Laptops dont have a sleep button per se.
You have to look for a FN + key combination that has the same color as your FN key and probably a figure that means sleep.

Hi, you better use usb mouse, the one with light at the bottom to see if it is on after you power on you pc. If you did not see the light on, that means the video chip on the motherboard or processor is bad. You have to try 1 memory at the time, then try the processor, if it is still not working, the motherboard is bad.

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the folowing

1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds

2) Plug everything back in and then rerty

This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty

I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again
