Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
Machine fills normally, when it tries to turn drum, there is a ratcheting sound but drum doesn't turn. Pump empties normally but the drum won't turn and there is a horrible ratcheting sound. A service tech came to check but told us it was an unbalanced load. Seemed to work again but has now gone back to making that sound and the drum won't turn. Tried to run an empty load to see if no clothes therefore no balance issue but no luck. Any ideas?
A ratcheting sound generally indicates some object (wire of sorts) tried going down drain but cant make it out but motor not turning drum over is something else, to check drain remove lower cover and open pump cleanout also feel the rubber hose from bottom of tub to pump to see if a object is in it. take hose off pump to clean out hose. if this is older duet check nut on rear pulley and tighten..
