Re: DO YOU NEED HEARING PROTECTION?
I am not sure of the decible rating but it is recomended that you where eye and ear protection with all power equipment for safety. I do know that the decible rating is high enough to cause hearing damage over time.

I would check the oil/ fuel mix ratio as it may be too weak and the engine is starting to seize up
nothing over 50: 1 ratio and most will operate as low as 25:1 ratio
while it is running check to see if it is smoking at the exhaust
if not ,there is not enough oil in the fuel
The problem your having is your not geting enough fuel into the engine. reconditioned equipment will have some ware on it causing it break down faster. If your machine manual tells you to use 50:1 ratio use 32:1-40:1 because 50:1 has less oil in it to lubercate engine than 32:-40:1 new/recondition equipment when run older equipment from the 90's 32:1-40:1 fuel ratio will run better and last longer. You may have to adjust mixing screws on carburator for the 32:1-40:1 ratio, but you notice better performance out of your trimmer and it will may start faster.
