Thanks man. i am going to try that but i am also tyhinking that it might be a bad ground because the system is alot bigger than the origional head unit... i am thinking that the dimmer switch in not getting a good ground and it might be tracing back into the lights and stuff. i will try it all.

I would Put the origanal stereo back in to the car to check to see if the problem still presists. If so you may want to check you fuses. I know at times when hooking up a system we do end up popping a few fuses, not on purpose but it does happen. Just check those two things and you may find your problem. Also you might want to put new light bulbs in too so you know that you have known good bulbs.

Do you have an aftermarket sound system installed, that is the problem, it causes a failure in the light control unit.

No dash lights or tail lights on my 1994 honda accord ex

I have right now the same problem. I just pulled the fancy/shmancy radio head out of my (Honda) 1992 Acura Integra and the whole dash is now a mess. It had been professionally installed. The dome light now doesn't work, the "door open" warning lights stay on, the clock is messed up, etc.
I installed the fancy head in another car, in a 1992 Honda Civic. That works perfectly. Sounds like you need to find a professional installer to re-do your new head.
I think the dash lights and the taillights are on the same circuit/fuse.

How do I replace tail light assembly on 2001 Honda Civic EX coupe?

To remove the tail light assembly to be replaced, you need to access the fasteners from inside the trunk.

Remove the black plastic retainers holding the trunk liner in place on the side you wish to replace. Once you have removed the retainers, peel back the trunk liner in the area you will be working on. Disconnect the light bulb sockets (be careful not to break any bulbs). The tail light assembly itself is held in place by 4 - 8mm nuts on the bolts that protrude about 1/2". An 8 mm deep well socket works well, but an open-end wrench will do the same job, just slower. Some of these also hold the wiring in place, so take note of where everthing goes. To put it all back together, just reverse the process.

The left one quit working about 6 weeks ago today

Hello! a device called the Tail Light Relay; Located in the under dash fuse/relay box is the likely culprit...It controls the left/right brake lights but not the middle brake light...Also check that the L/R brake lights have a solid ground...Use an ohm meter...Zero ohms to negative battery terminal...
