We had exactly the same problem and the only we could get the flash working again was to do back to the default settings. (Home, settings the initialise and then it asks if you want to restore default settings and we said ok.
Hope this helps

How to turn off the flash?

Press [up] on the multiselector (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu. Use [up]/[down] on the multiselector to select the lightning-bolt-in-a-circle-with-a-slash-through-it symbol to turn off the flash.

Don't forget to turn it back on later.

Full details are in the "Using the Flash" section of the manual (page 40 in my copy). If you need a copy of the manual, you can download one from

FujiFilm fine Pix A 345. Lend won't open upon turning on camera. Camera makes a buzz noise and then the display reads zoom error.

Those things get stuck.

You have to mess with it until it comes unstuck, if it even does.

Try hitting it while you are turning it on. Tap it from all sides and directions.

You might get lucky.

I got mine to come back to life temporarily.

Please don't give me a thumbs down just cause its bad news.

How do i turn my flash on on the vivitar t027

Here is the manual in PDF. Just type in "flash" in the search box of the pdf file, and push next until you find exactly what kind of flash you need. Also the regular flash is that zigzagged down arrow on back of your camera on the top circle of icons.

I need to change the menu language to English, as it turned to Chinese by mistake. Please help me. Thanks, El-sayed

Hello, That's the same camera I have! I can help you. Follow this sequence to reset all the settings so that the language becomes English:
  1. Turn cam on
  2. Press the "menu" button.
  3. Press right directional key (marked with the flash symbol)
  4. Press down directional key to go to the bottommost entry of the menu (which is the reset all option)
  5. Press the "set" key (in the middle of the directional keys)
  6. Press the up directional key and then "set" to confirm.
There. you're done. Now you don't have to learn Chinese to use your cam!
EXTRA NOTE: BTW just in case this applies to you too; When I first got my cam, I had trouble finding the timer option to time the shutter (1-2-3 click!) It's called "drive mode" in this camera.

How do i turn off auto flash

On the back of the camera there is a direction arrow pad. Above the top up arrow is a picture that looks almost like a lightning bolt. With the camera on and ready to take a picture press the up button and it will give you the option to turn off the flash. I believe it is called 'flash cancel' on this model.
Good Luck -WN

Use of macro digital feature

hi,let me just inform u that the macro mode is only for outdoors. So on the side of the camera u will find a sliding switch.Just slide it to the opposite direction to turn off the macro mode.Since u wanted to take pictures of jewelry pieces, turn on the flash if u have one and then take a closeup shot with good lighting conditions. If its too bright then use only the flash,if u r not satisfied with the quality then use only lights and then take a pic.Still face any prob plz get back to me.

How do I turn my flash off on my samsung digimax 4010

You don't say which model Digimax you have. Hopefully this will cover most models.
First, make sure the menu is not being displayed on the LCD monitor, otherwise you'll just move around in the menu screen. You must also be in photo record mode, ready to take a picture (not in playback or movie mode).
There is a button (usually on the left side of the direction pad) that looks like a lightning bolt. I can't remember the exact number of times you must press it, but the display should indicate that the flash is turned off as one of the options as you cycle through them.
Depending on your model, the modes are likely to be Auto Flash (bolt with an "A" icon), Auto with Red-eye reduction ("eye" icon), fill flash - always on ("bolt" icon), Slow sync (bolt with an "S" icon), and flash off (bold with a line through it icon).
Also depending on your model, you may not be able to turn the flash off depending on which recording mode you're in. For instance, you can't turn the flash off if you're in the "Backlight" recording mode.

Resolution ?

When you turn on the Fun Flash! camera, the default resolution is 640 x 480, as indicated by the two stars displayed on the LCD panel. To change the resolution to 320 x 240, you need to turn the camera off and then press and hold the self-timer button while turning the camera back on. Release the self-timer button and the camera will be in the lower resolution mode (indicated by the single star on the LCD). Remember, the next time you turn on your Fun Flash! camera it will default back to the 640 x 480 setting.
