Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I've been given a Dell Latitude C540/C640. Apon startup the Windows XP log in pops up. I've got the password(s) but they don't seem to work. What I'd like to do is start-up the laptop so it can be mine now. I do not need anything on the drive, other than the operating system (and maybe a couple of apps would be nice).
I've tried opening in Safe mode (F8) but when restarted the log in security still locks me out.
My question is: Can I use this laptop? Can I start-up and use, reverting to "Day One" is fine I just would like to use the laptop.
There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

You said that you tried logging in safe mode .. could you go inside windows in safe mode? if yes you could change the password there or make a new account.

The same happend too me, If u have tryed everythink & still no luck, Try swiching user when the log-in comes up, or if that dosn't work, Remove battery from laptop for say 10min, then try again, This practice is not recomended, But if you have nothin to lose then u have everything to gain. Good-luck.
