Question about Compaq Presario Notebook

1 Answer

Recovery drive is full

I have a Compaq Presaro laptop , CQ70 - Vista Premium. I got a warning that my D drive was almost full. That is my recovery drive. I have never run into this before. I ran the few checks made available through "Properties". Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response. No my main drive is no where near full. I just never have gotten a warning before that the recovery drive or I should say that portion of the drive is full. The indicator is in the red. I just don't want a crash of any kind to occur.

Thanks again for the input. Have a good day.

The recovery drive is actually where the hidden partition is that allows you to press F11 to do a factory restore to your laptop. Its normal for it to be full. Main concern is to make sure the c: drive is not full thats where your OS and all the rest of your files are.

How to reformat my laptop without a cd??

When you turn it on, watch the screen carefully. Many times recovery is contained on a small partition of your hard drive. When your computer begins booting, watch for a short message that says something like, "For recovery press F11". It could be another F key. You will only get a couple seconds to choose it. Choose an option that does a full restore which will reformat the drive.
