Maytag Neptune MAH5500b--started a wash load, started filling but door lock light didn't go on. Digital display is blinking DO (no doubt for Door Open) and buzzer beeping every second. Turning machine off/on and unplugging doesn't help.
Open the soap dispenser. Look down in front of the fabric softener dish.
You should see a yellowy-green plastic cord (like weed-whacker line). Pull it.
The door should open.
If you don't see the cord, remove the four screws that hold the dispenser lid in place to find it. Just don't lose it when you put the cover back on.

Washer will fill with water and will start the cycle, however, door light does not come on so it stops and will go no further into wash.
I have the same problem. I started the load, but "do" soon came on, and now the door won't open even though the door locked light is off.

Near the end of the washing cycle the washer quit for a long period of time. The door is locked and cannot be opened even after turning the washer off and unplugging it.
