    Same problem for three of these Vizeo models; but, not for Emerson TV. All are connected separately to cable via analog to digital converters.

    I hooked up a GE amplified indoor antenna to my JVC LT-47X579 TV. When I go to Setting and then TV, the tuner option to change it to air from cable is grayed out. What do I need to do to get this changed? In other answers you talk about a digital converter box. Do I need one of those?

I understand you have;
Toshiba 36" analog tv,
Tivax converter box,
RCA Digital Flat amplified antenna.

You want to get signal over the air;
Connect the antenna to the Tivax converter box.
Connect the Tivax Converter box to the input for the TV.

Turn on the antenna, Converter box and TV. You should get a menu on the tv screen. Follow the instructions and SCAN in the channels in your area by using the converter box remote.

You can see your channels by going to www.tvfool.com and entering your information.

Do i need a digital converter box to watch tv with an antenna with model 46la55r120q

According to the user's manual, the TV can receive and decode analog and digital TV signals, so no, you should not need a digital converter box. During the channel scan it will search for analog channels first, then digital ones.

Can you connect a hd converter to a Toshiba cx 32 g60 tv

there isn't much point in connecting an hd converter the toshiba cx32g60. the tv can only support an sd signal (composite video or ntsc analog). however, many hd set-top boxes (dvd players, cable and satellite) have composite outputs. these can be connected to your tv. blu-ray videos can't be watched with this tv. (the hdcp (high definition copy protection) can't be sent through most converters.)

if you want to watch ota programming , the cheapest option would be to find an sd digital-to-analog converter. these were the ones sold when most stations switched to digital tuners. some are being sold off as people replace their old analog sets. there are some hd tuner boxes, like this one: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=3500stb&d=iview-hd-dvr-receiverconverter-box-for-tv-antenna-qam-%283500stb%29&c=digital%20converter%20boxes&sku= , that have composite video output which will connect to the cx32g60.

i hope this helps.

(if you tried an hdmi to component video converter followed by a component to composite video converter, the signal may degrade excessively.)

How do I hook up Coby 5" black & white TV to my digital converter box ?

You will need a digital to analog converter which you can get at Radio Shack, Best Buy and most big box retail outlets or online. Your Coby is most likely analog and will require the digital signal to be converted to an analog signal from the digital converter box to the TV. UNLESS the digital converter box has analog (round connectors on the back) then you just need an analog RCA cable (which you can also get almost anywhere even your local CVS/Walgreens) to make the connection.

TV WAS USED FOR CABLE BUT WANT TO USE IT FOR TV ONLY

Is your TV analog or digital? If analog then it will work with the cable but not with over the air antenna signals. You will need an adapter box between the TV and antenna. Use "digital tv converter" for a search on eBay.

I have an older Sharp Aquos TV - model # LC-32G4U. I am trying to connect a digital antenna but it doesn't work. Anyone know if I need a separate digital tuner for this TV? Or what else might be t

There is no difference between a "digital" and analog antenna. Either antenna will capture the signal. What you need is a digital converter box to convert the over air digital signal to the older analog type signal your TV needs. You connect the antenna to the digital converter box, and the digital converter box to the TV.
Several years ago, the US government forced peopel to buy digital converter boxes or newer TVs that could pick up the digital signal. Either get a digital converter box or a new TV.

I'm trying to hook up an indoor antenna to my polaroid flm-3232 do I need a digital converter box or does the tv have the necessary components?

You have an analog TV, meaning that the tuner in your TV is analog only. You must buy a digital converter to see broadcast Digital TV via your external antenna and it will be attached to the antenna input jack or other jack depending on how it comes out of the converter.

One bit of advice, there is no such thing as a "digital" antenna, they are all analog. Even a 50 year old, outside antenna aerial that you see out in the countryside will pick up the new Digital Broadcasts to be converted by a Digital Converter and displayed on a 50 year old TV.

How can I get analog channels to work with DTV without cable

Hello drandald,

what you need is a converter box to convert analog signals to digital. I know there is one in Best Buy (not sure if there is one in your location) but they have one called access digital tv converter. They are about $50 (CAN). You would still need your antenna or however you get your analog signals. The antenna needs to be plugged into your converter box and then the box would need to be connected to your tv. Good luck.

Hello drandald,

Your tv is a digital tv, so you do NOT need a converter box. The tv has a built in digital tuner. But if you have any other older tv's then what you need is a converter box to convert analog signals to digital. I know there is one in Best Buy (not sure if there is one in your location) but they have one called access digital tv converter. They are about $50 (CAN).
