Fan and dimmer remote does not work

I bought a condo with an installed Hampton Bay fan with light. The remote is a Hampton Bay remote that should dim the light (low, med, hi) and turn fan on and off. I replaced the battery and do have a red light when I press the button but no response from fan or light. There is a light and dimmer switch on the way...and one that may flip on the fan...it doesn't work either.

It depends if the fan and lights are ran for separate control. If only one power line is ran from the fan to the switch location than you are out of luck. You should install a switch instead of a dimmer because a fan is not designed to work with a dimmer. A dimmer works by rapidly turning the power on and off faster than our eyes can detect creating a dimming effect for lights. This is not good for your fan. The strength of the fan speed will be limited by the dimming/power output of the light dimmer.

Dimmer or not?

Are you saying you have a dimmer for the fan light and it does not work, or you do not know if the fan came with a dimmer switch?
Most of these fans have two switches; one is for the fan speed(usually three speed) and the other is for the lights(on -off). Adding a Remote control , which is optional for this unit , will allow for remote speed control(variable or three speed), and light dimmer control. The remote controls can be purchased in your local Home Depot or Lowes store. Hope this helps....

Light is dim on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan

Check the lamp installed is of correct type / wattage,
If a light dimmer is connected, check its operation,
Check the light circuit socket and switch connections. - Take care not to get electrocuted! - mains power is dangerous.

Bought a condo with 2 Hampton Bay ceiling fans with lights. Previous owner did not supply the remotes. Where can I get a remote without having to replace the base. The fans work with the light switch but...

Home depot makes hampton bay.
That's their brand name.
I know they sell remotes.
Just make sure the code switches on the remote (They're in the battery compartment....should be 4 of them) match the receiver switch positions ( located in the upper canopy of the fan).
The sales help are goodfor this kind of thing, as it happens all the time with lost remotes etc.

Remote calibration

I installed three fans in the same room and one remote ran all three. In order to get the dimmers all to bring the lights up and down together, I changed the dip-switches in the fan housing so that the remote would only work one fan at a time. I then brought the dimmer lights all the way to bright. After all the lights were equally bright, I again altered the dip-switches so that all three and the remote were identical. The remote then dimmed all three lights equally.
