Been there, done that a few times!

You need a telescoping, magnetic wand. It looks like a teacher's blackboard "pointer".
It pulls out to about 2 feet, and has a magnet at the end. Some styles have a magnetic that is hinged to the tip of the wand.

Available at:

1. Auto supply/Home Repair stores, for fishing screws out of engines, etc.

2. Anywhere that home canning supplies are sold. (Even some general supermarkets.) Here they are used for fishing metal canning lids out of boiling water.

3. Stationery, or Office Supply-type stores. Buy the actual telescopic pointer, and glue your own magnet to the end.

You didn't drop the screw into the guts of the machine, didya?!

Hope that helps,

Question re: potential damage due to dropped screw

ANYTHING that is not supposed to be in the main wash pump can potentially cause significant problems if not removed. Foreign objects caught in the main wash pump are the most common causes of dishwasher failures. Ignoring it can eventually lead to a problems which could result in the replacement of the main wash pump. Depending on the model number you have, some replacement pumps are not cheap and can cost almost as much as what you would pay for a new dishwasher once the labor charges are added.

In addition, most manufacturer warranties WILL NOT cover the replacement as this falls under the category of "Customer Abuse". Even though, the potential problem was accidental, the manufacturer will not honor the warranty if something you did caused the failure.

You need to remove the lower spray arm, coarse strainer and fine strainer and locate the screw. If you do not know how to perform these procedures, post back with your MODEL NUMBER and I can give you step by step advice. I hope this helps you

How do i remove front panel on incognito dishwasher

If you have SCVi you have a steel panel. You'll find 4 Holes, 2 on each side covered by plastic caps. They have "TORX 15" screws inside. The screws control locking cams that are tightly pinching 4 hooks from the fascia panel. It's very similar to hanging up a coat hanger. Turn each screw 5-7 times counter-clockwise (lefty loosy). The locking cam will traverse outward releasing the pinch. The fascia panel will now lift out. The cam is now loose. While servicing care must be taken to avoid moving the cams inside the door.
Re-assemble in reverse order. Make sure the panel drops into place before locking the screws. The panel will first go towards the rear of the dishwasher then drop down about 1/4". If the panel does not drop, one or more of the cams is in the way. Remove the panel and reset the cam by looking into each slot with a flashlight and pushing the cams towards the outer edge of the door based on which side it's on. Lock the cam screws clockwise once the panel is hanging squarely on the door and re-seat the plastic covers.

Kenmore dishwasher how do I retrieve a screw I dropped in the bottom?

Try turning off the power at the breaker box, turning off the water, and unhooking any connections. Next, remove the dishwasher from the counter, and turning it upside down. You'll want to shake it gently at an angle so the screw can drop free. This is a relatively hassle free fix if you can get it to work. If this doesn't work, you may have to remove the pump motor assembly and then the motor to access the area where the screw is lodged. The later solution will require you to pack a lunch. You'll be there a while. Be sure you know what you're doing before you begin disassembling. It's a big job.

No power amd will not drain

This has happened a few times with mine. Turns out, it was a loose ground wire. Here's how to check it: Remove bottom panel (4 screws). In the front(bottom) on the right side there is the electrical connection box. Remove the top screw of the cover and the cover will drop down. There is a screw directly in front on the back of the box. That is the ground connection. Red wire for mine. The screw on mine would only go half way in. Therefore the ground wire was loose causing it to loose power. I replaced with a better screw and it powered back on instantly. Make sure you shut off the breaker before doing this. Good Luck.
