Everything else works fine. Turn to DTV and nothing, not even the "no signal" comes on. Any suggestions?
Call vizio's customer support line and tell them you got the 'pop of death', They know this tv is a lemon and are standing behind it to make it right. They will take down your info and serial number and set up a repair order FREE OF CHARGE. When I called, they told me that this model was know to have serious defects and was given a lifetime manufacturer warranty to cover all parts and labor! What happens is that they send someone out, he pronounces the TV to be dead and not worth fixing and they give you a brand spankin new one! This way they get a better reputation by 'covering' their duds but reality is that they don't have to keep fixing this tv if they replace it with a model that only has one year MFG warranty. Either way you win. Post back if you get a different result from calling Vizio. I'd like to know how everyone else's experience is turning out.
I have the same issue. DTV input does not work, nor does it communicate with the remote. Vizio support is no help at all so far.

Try turning off power at surge and let tv reset, It just worked for me .

Same as mllynch's problem-DTV setting on my Vizio only works on occasion, usually after long periods of being turned on (sometimes 5 hrs. or longer, sometimes not at all). Will work on TV setting with a separate converter box on the same arial antenna. I'll try calling Vizio hopefully they will cooperate as mentioned. The tv is past it's original warranty date so I just figured I was screwed. I'll repost if successful. Thanks for the advice!
Pop of death,,,no DTV input. Unfortunately Vizio did not acknowledge
this problem to me as a "lifetime fix" type problem. They said I should follow up with my 3rd Party extended warranty carrier.
Pop of death.....No DTV input, just a black screen. Unfortunatly Vizio support did not acknoledge the "lifetime fix" for this problem. They advised I just persue the 3rd party extended warranry route.
Pop of Death on a Vizio p50hdtv from Circuit City. Can you believe they designed this plasma with no fans...no fans at all!!! Purchased on December 6, 2006. It was never wall mounted and had 13 inches of ventilation clearance from the wall. POD on May 18, 2009. Lifespan--29 months. I will fight them tooth and nail. Are you listening CS Andrew? A C.A.L. is truly in order for this company. I posted my experiences at avs forum, and within two days I have been contacted by a Class action law firm and one of the most respected HD puplications on the net, which appears to be investigating this exact P50hdtv design flaw. Step up to the plate Vizio.
