Hayward has all their owners manuals on the web at
http://www.haywardnet.com/aboveground/products/manuals.cfm#FiltersSand

if your model is older and not on the current list, you will find a model with the same top valves are yours as they haev made very little changes over the years.

How long is it since the sand in the filter was changed? How long has it been installed? If the water is clean but cloudy, get some kind of flocculant from your pool supplier. Follow the instructions carefully as your pool will need to be bavkwashed on a frequent basis.

How long does the sand filter need to run?

According to Hayward Pools, it should run anywhere from 30 Minutes to 1 Hour, depending on the gallon content of the pool you are sanitizing. You should read the manual of your particular model and verify the sand filters pump and CFM capabilities. Manuals can be downloaded at the following link:

Since day 1 I have has sand in my filter Have changed sand frequently How much sand goes into the filter I have S210T filter

Sand in your filter or sand in your pool? A common mistake when installing these is not to fill them half way with water prior to filling the tank with sand. Failure to do so often leads to cracks in the lateral assembly and sand in the pool. If that is the case you'll need a new lateral assembly, part #SX210DA. Depending on how long ago it was installed and who installed it you may be able to get the part under warranty. If not it runs about $45.

The filter takes 200# of sand. Your product tag should confirm this with a statement of something like "media required: 200#" or something similar.

You would be correct; replace them with part number SX220DA and you should be all set. If the sand is older than 3 seasons, replace it too while you have to empty the filter.

How do I change the sand in my Hayward S220t Top Mount Pro Series Sand Filter

un-screw the entire top valve unit. I would duct tape over the top of the riser pipe at the top.You do not want to get any sand inside that pipe. Turn upside downand rinse out completely. Add new sand remove duct tape and replace top valve unit

Accurate pressure for 2 hp ag hayward pool pump

the psi range is normal and will fluctuate with the cleaniness of the filter. Depending on wether or not you have a Sand filter or an Earth Filter, you should periodically backwash(for sand) and "bump" for the earth filters. You will notice that the psi will lower back down to the lower psi range. This indicates that your water is flowing freely with little resistance.
