White flickering box shapes made of lines

I have an Westinghouse LTV-32w1 that has developed white flicker shaped boxes made of lines about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the screen equally spaced across the screen. This is from my cable box that is hooked to the Component 1 port. If I put in a DVD the boxes go away and I get white flicker lines at the bottom of the screen. It is hooked to the Component 2 port. Other than this problem the TV is working great. What I am trying to determine is this a problem that is being caused by the main controller board or the LCD controller board that is part of the LCD display. I know how to replace these boards no problem. I just need to know which on to replace. Any suggestion or help would be appreciated.

I have tryed all of the inputs and I get some form of the same problems listed above. The problem does not go away by swtiching inputs. I know there is something wrong with the TV I am just trying to determine which board I need to replace based on the problem I am having. I think I need to replaced the main board but I am not sure. It could possibly be the LCD controller board. I need someone to point me in the right direction.

I will order part and replace to see if this fixes the problem. I will update you after I have done this.

Replaced the LCD Controller board and the problem is exactly the same as before. Will try the main controller board next.

Hi, this seems to be an isolated problem that is located on the input block side of the logic circuit board. these two input blocks may have become unstable, due to poor solder contact points. this is a job for a qualified tech that has experience with soldering and iron handling. a point break test will also be needed for preventive maintenance while the Tv is disassembled.

You need to get your X-Board(X-sus) repaired or repaced. As these type of bars/boxes occur when either the x-board connector is loose or drive IC on the x-board is faulty.

    Thanks

There two pieces of modules that usually go out, the power supply module or the backlight inverter module.

Check to see if you do have 24vdc at the inverter board as shown in my pictures.

The LVDS cable might have come loose. It is easy to clean and reattach with some heat resistant tape. westytech has been posting on this site about similar picture problems. I posted this about another issue, but is has good pics etc.

Naw, simple fix!!! Listen to LarryK420 on this forum:

and see my posts at the end. CLEAN YOUR LCD CONTROLLER RIBBON CABLES. It only took a single average size Phillips head screwdriver and an eraser. Remember where the different screws go, fine thread into metal, coarse thread into plastic, and make sure all the cables you disconnect are reconnected correctly and securely. Power it up and make sure all is well, before you put it all backtogether. I thought great, I still have a picture, put all the screwsback in, then no sound. The clip came off with the speaker cable, and I put it on backwards. Luckily no permanent consequences, but I had to reopen the TV and flip it, then it was loose, so I bent it back a bit so it was more perpendicular to the board, and it all stayed snug. I can't believe it seems not to be some overheating or failing component, costing lots of money, totally free.

Look at the back or side of TV you will see AV in with the same colors Yellow, Red, White. Just follow the code and plug your DVD cable accordingly. Remember to switch the menu to AV to see the program.

32inch westinghouse LCD TV flickers/slighly shaky picture-LTV32W1

try reseating the LVDS cable inside the set it is the multi wire connector from the main board to the LCD panel (top portion of the panel). if that doesn't look to see if the back lamps are remaining lit during this problem. if they go out the problem may be power supply or inverters (lamp power supply).. some panel makers make these available as a seperate part, some do not and the panel must be replaced. if the back lamps stay lit it is the main board. start with the LVDS cable first.
