Battery problem for vp-d55????

Hi,
I charged the battery fully for this camcorder for use today and travelled to my filming location,
on arrival the camcorder would not turn on,
i took it home and plugged it into the mains and the camcorder worked as normal,
i then noticed that my battery level according to the green light was full,
i started to charge my spare battery and this also started to charge with no problems,
it seems that my batteries are charging ok but will not work on my camcorder but the camcorder works find when plugged into the mains.
