Redhat is a Linux open source product. You will either have to let it download overnight onto your system then make the appropriate cd or dvd to install it. Or you can look on eBay to purchase the Redhat software disc.
Redhat ... all installation guides are almost same, but before setting up installation make sure you have no critical data on you drive. You might end up setting it up on wrong drive or complete partition leaving you with erased data.
RedHat 4 is obsolete , it will not work on a SATA device like yours without serious fiddling.
Get http://pclinuxos.com/ instead , it's an up to date RedHat offshoot.
well depends on what u want to do, if u want to wipe out your old os and install redhat on the hdd, or you can dual boot, or you can use vmware to create a virtual machine. heres a website i thought would be useful, http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/install-guide/index.html
The Acer Aspire 4710 uses a SATA hard drive. Unfortunately Redhat Linux 9.0 does not have SATA support (uses the 2.4 kernel). You will have to upgrade to something recent like Fedore Core 7 or Ubuntu 7.10. Hope this helps.
