Question about Gateway M285-E Notebook
My mic was working, but soemthing happened and not it is not. I have gone through the control panel, and the sounds tab to select the internal mic, but still nothing. I can't find any other answers on the web.
I've seen that happen once before. The mic might have disconnected from the mainboard or the mic cable might be broken. The connector is located just to the left of the screen hinge (visible after removing the power button cover by lifting the right corner of it and pulling up and out gently). It is the small connector. If it is connected, then is either the wire roken or the mic itself has gone bad. The wire is routed under the screen bezel, which has to be removed in order to gain access to the mic and mic wire. The wire breaks at the neck of the hinge, where it is subject to torsion from swiveling the screen. Hope that helps
