Usually when your BIO's doesn't detect the hard drives is usually a good indicator that the hard drive has failed. In rare instants it is the motherboard. In the boot sequence it will only show the hard drives it sees if it doesn't see any then none will be shown. I would start with a new hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Deleting old SP1 partition on dell 2400

Sound like you have two versions of the operating system out there. Not sure what your question is. If you want to remove the old version you should have done that while you were doing the installation. That would have been easy by just telling the system to do it for you.

Now you will probably need some type of partitioning software and i'm not sure if you just delete it if it will cause problems when you try to boot because windows knows it's out there.

If I were you, I would just reinstall windows and clean the disk of everything. It shows you what it finds out there as far as operating systems, so just delete them both, then do a quick NTFS format of the drive and reinstall windows.

You could try to download the "Service Pack for IT Professionals" - as this is the full package, and doesn't require Windows Update. You need to install SP1 before SP2.

Hello no1sugard, go to this "Website," and "Download the Updates" for Windows XP
(Service Pack 3)."
  • First make sure that you have [SP1 and SP2] already installed in your Computer?
  • To {check} which "Service Pack" you have already?
  • If not?
  • Then you must "Download SP1 and SP2 first!"
  • Open "the Computer Properties," by [Alt / Right] clicking on the Computer in the 'shortcut menu' of the "Start Menu."
If this information helped? Return and give a "Helpful Rating," please!

Hello,

Thanks for using fixya.

My name is Carlo.

Your computer might not pass the system requirements that's why it has an error. Or, you can try installing it one more time and check if it will work. Computers do mess up sometimes.

Here's the system requirement of SIMS 3:

Desktop PC (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Desktop PC (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Laptop (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

Laptop (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 2 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

IF your computer does not pass the system requirement, then you cannot play sims3 in your computer.

I hope this helps. Thank you for using fixya

Please leave your comment and ratings. Thanks

CARLO

How can I activate Operating System Microsoft windows XP home SP1 ?

When you click on Activate now you can select the activation by the Internet or by telephone.
To activate by the Internet you need to have the LAN card installed with the drivers and have Internet access, otherwise you need to activate by the telephone.
Please note XP SP1 is old you need to install XP SP3 (which includes SP2).

How to install xp sp1 in dell pc 220s

The latest service for XP is SP3.
You need to download SP2 from Microsoft (SP2 which includes SP1).
Then you need to install SP2 and after SP2 is installed you need to download SP3 to install.
SP3 is approx 350Mb so if you have a friend who has it on a CD, then borrow it and install it using the CD.

C2881 wont boot after sp2 installed

Generally when an SP2 installation doesn't take it means that there was some corruption of the SP1 installation. Usually virus related.

Although it is possible, I doubt very highly that replacing hardware will fix this problem. This is a software related issue and should be repaired as such.

You'll need to boot to the XP recovery console and then perform an uninstallation of SP2. Then you'll need to disinfect the SP1 installation (check for winlogon infections!)

Please, do not attempt to physically replace the BIOS ROM. You'll probably brick your motherboard.

If this doesn't solve your errors or you need more information please post back with what BSoD you're getting when the computer starts. And if possible upload the .dmp file from C:\Windows\Minidump to a file hosting service.
