I have a front load bosch and use the HE liquid detergent, about 1/2 to 2/3 the recommended amount, with fairly hard water, and get great results. Our house rule is after the wash, the door stays wide open while the drier is running. When the drier is finished the washer door gets swung shut but not latched. We have not had any slime ever.
