ATI x700 Pro 256MB (PCI Express). I was just told (by a PC Shop) that my Video Card ("VC") appears to be "humming" when booted up. He checked the fan on the video card and said it seems to be operating slow but if I have problems with the screen (video card) losing signal...I need to replace the video card. Will replacing the video card fix this problem? I paid $174 for this ("VC") and now I found it on EBay for $24 brand new. I've seen prices range about less than $100 for this card now. I just replaced the motherboard (Dec. 2008) with a MSI DKA790GX Platinum Motherboard that uses the ATI "VC".

Your suggestions / recommendations ?

Just move the cursor to safe mode then press enter. The PC will then load up everything one thing at a time. If you end up fully loaded you can then, shut it down and start it normally. The computer will tell you of any problems, during safe mode start up.

My hp pavilion g7 series laptop is messing up? it says my ati display driver keeps messing up.

1.Start the laptop up in safe mode with networking by pressing the f8 button while switching it on at the power switch.
2 Once in safe mode remove the ati drivers.
3. Download Eusing free registry cleaner install it and clean your registry.
4. Download new drivers from Ati and install them.
hopefully this should do the trick. if the problem still exist then it could be a sign that your graphic chip is failing,.

I had the same problem with an Intellistation 6868 for years. It just wouldn't load XP but ran fine on Windows 2000 SP4. I tried 3 different XP Installation CD's with no luck. After several attempts at installing XP I bought a clean XP Upgrade from ebay.

It took me 3 goes to install it but eventually I got it in there. If you can get XP to start on the 6868 press F8 and start it in safe mode first then when it's booted fully, shut it down and and then start it clean again. It worked for me. I've been running it for 5 months now and it's fine.

I couldn't get it to work at all on the 6868's onboard IDE so I installed a PCI Raid Card and it boots fine on that.

System:
IBM 6868 52A M-Pro Intellistation
2 x Intel P3 866 CPU's 256 mb cache
2 GB ECC RD Ram
2 x Seagate 320 GB 8MB Cache HDD on a Sunix ATA133 PCI Raid Card
2 x Seagate 10000 rpm SCSI HDD on Adaptec Raid Card

You will have to re-install the drivers a few times before the control panel realises there is an ATI plugged in. Once done, Direct-X will respond to the ATI drivers, and therefore work. Sorted! Good luck!
