Dell Lattitude C840 Display NO WORK

Display had ierd verticle lines to weeks ago took it back to electronics shop where i bought it for $250 second hand. After 2 days and $80 they said the connector for the video was ALMOST unconnected so they reconnected and it worked fine for a wek or so. Now when i bot the machine i have no display. hooked an external monitor up and the verticle lines are back but I do have a display. Is the LCD display dead cause the card and vid. memory apear to be fine. What is the fix.

Does the external monitor display look OK and just the laptop LCD have the lines?
If that's then it is either the LCD inverter or the LCD.I have done both and got my parts here at a reasonable price. If you don't want to do the work they will do it for you.

If you are getting lines on an external display, then the video card needs to be reseated or it is bad. Since you just had it worked on, I'd take it back and tell them you aren't satisfied (most places will guarantee their work 30 days).

My cousin gave me his old Dell Lattitude C840. I found when I tried to run it without plugging it in to an outlet, the power only lasts 1 hr 15 min! Is that normal for this model? Is there a solution so I...

Hello,

Yes, it is normal for this model. 1hr 15min is usually the normal duration that the model of this type of battery lasts. This highest it might go is 1hr 30mins. It's usually difficult for laptop of these kinds to stay 2hrs or more using battery.

There is no solution to this. You have no choice than to continue using it that way.

You are even lucky because some don't even last up to 1hr.

I hope I have answered your question.

Yours sincerely.

in case you are not able to boot to windows, you can use the password recovery tool that can be downloaded from below link.
download this tool on another computer and it will create a disc.
you need to boot the computer in which the issue is occouring with the disc.

All steps are mentioned in below link as well

Dell Lattitude C840 Laptop

The 3 LED's (Num Lock, Caps Lock, Scroll Lock) are used by Dell to diagnose no-post issues such as yours. The only error code close to yours is [Num Lock ON, Caps Lock FLASHING, Scroll Lock ON]. This indicates a a memory error. Try reseating the memory modules. If you have 2 memory modules, insert one at a time to determine the faulty module.
