Fujitsu Scansnap S510 install problem

I installed this product 6 months ago and it worked fine. But then just recently it started acting odd. Whenever I turned off my computer and rebooted each morning the found new hardware for the scansnap would appear and the scanner wouldn't work. So I removed the organzer and the scanner from the computer through Add/Remove programs. Then I went in and deleted the two files C:\Documents and Settings\my user name\application data\pfu and C:\program fiels\pfu. Now when I put in the CD to reload the program I get the folloiwng error message "do not have a write authority for installation file. Make the selected folder writable". What the heck does that mean? I went to Fujitsu site and there is nothing there that helps. I run Windows XP Professional 32 bit. HELP!!! Norma

Bypass installation wizard and just run the setup.exe file for ScanSnap Manager. Installation wizard is bugged.

Visually check the clutch spring (located on the left side of the pickup roller shaft, just before the gear). If the spring is deformed or broken, replace the entire pickup roller shaft. The part you need to order are shown below. You will also need a small 'C' clip. I do not know if the clip comes ith the shaft or the gear...

This is probably due to the program using the same folder for the new version of the program. Best solution would be to uninstall the new version, uninstall the old version and then reinstall the newset version only.
Running a registry cleaner in between does not harm.

One other thing to try is an uninstall program, but I am not sure that will help.

SOURCE: Sending E-Mail Failed (0x80004005) - Fujitsu ScanSnap S510

You need to open Internet Explorer and add Thunderbird as your email program. Click Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > E-mail: Select Mozilla Thunderbird from the drop down.

I have an IMac with a Fujistsu S1300. I upgraded the harddrive and now the scansnap application does not work. I have tried to re install the scansnap but it always gives the same message" General Error...


There might be a software package that you need to install that you can probably get from the Fujistsu main site. You'll need the drivers for the scanner. I think i've located the correct ones here:

You'll want to download the proper package. The top one should include the S1300, just make sure you're downloading the correct one. Once downloaded, install, and it should properly function.

The scanner does not start up automatically when I start my computer. I try unplugging it, turning off the computer, etc to jump start it. But, nothing seems to work. I have Windows 7 as the OS.


You did not mention the model number of your scanner. If you recently upgraded to windows 7 and the scanner worked before than you probably need to update your driver.

My Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 only flashes 5 blue lights


I got off the phone with Fujitsu and i was told you need to make sure that the ScanSnap Icon is in the system tray without a Red Line cross through it, so if it is not in your system tray start the snap scan program, if it's disabled re-enable it and you should be good.

Driver scansnap


There should not be any problem installing that sofware on that OS and version. My guess is you have a botched (corrupted) install. Try uninstalling if you can otherwise let me know and we'll "clean out the registry." Good luck!
