SOURCE: Sony vaio laptop unable to detect new hard disk

Hello,

Try connecting the drive to another pc with a usb adapter, create a partition and format it. Then put the drive back in the vaio and reinstall windows. This should fix the problem.

SOURCE: SONY VAIO

Save Data if possible.

Use Restore System; Restore Computer to Factory "New" Condition.. Sont Vaios have a Key Prompt which you hold down while booting and the Replacement Software already on a Sector of the Hard Drive. Check THe Manuel for this OR CALL SONY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND JUST GIVE THEM THE MODEL NUMBER AND ASK THEM WHICH BUTTON YOU PUSH ETC TO RESTORE THE COMPUTER TO "FACTORY CONDITION"

I have a Sony vaio with windows 7, I was downloading adobe photoshop it restarted several times and I didn't think anything of it then all of a sudden it goes to the system recovery mode. It pops up w

Hopefully, when you got the computer, you made a set of system disks. They will include a restore disk. Restore your system and from now on, when you download a program, especially something as large as Adobe Photoshop, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT. There are a lot of files that need to do their own thing before you can finish the installation. Did you make sure to read EVERY pop-up box? Sometimes there are programs being added to your computer if you don't uncheck the boxes. If you downloaded the program from a second source website, it could be fake and contain a virus, a worm or a rootkit.

Hi Greg,

This issue can still be fixed. However, the only way to fix this is to bring the machine to Sony Vaio's Authorized Service Center. Reflashing the system's BIOS can only be done inside Windows. But because of the state of your machine reflash is not possible. People from the Service Center need to have physical access to your machine so they can reflash your BIOS and put it back to it's original state. They do have a special tool needed to do the whole process. Kindly call Sony's phone support to check out the nearest available service center in your area. You may contact them at:

Priority Service: 239-768-7669 Toll Free Service: 1-888-476-6972

They are open 24/7.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

After i've read the solutions from some experts, I did what they advised, I "rebooted" ,"deleted some unwanted files and recent programs" I installed in it, tried "msconfig", "run", "CHKDSK " and "cleaned...

Given all the steps you've tried thus far, it may just save you time and frustration to just wipe the machine and start over. Given you can get into safe mode you might be able to copy any of your important files off to a usb thumb drive or usb hard disk before you wipe it.

If the laptop still has problems on a fresh install of windows, then its time to call in warranty repair.
