You can download a  BIOS and flash it ,from the company who made either you computer or mother board. if you have a working BIOS now. If not you will have to send for one. Their are companies on the internet that sell them. Google BIOS relpacment.,

??Why were you messing with the bios?? Has absolutely Nothing to do with a restore!!!1-computersurgeons.com for a restore disc set. 2-Most important part, restore is useless without the correct bios. U R N over your head, but wimsbios.com for bios, flasher & u need a boot disc, hope it has a floppy, otherwise you have to make an iso boot disc with the correct bios & flasher on it(preferrably an cd-rw so it can retrieve bad bips on) good luck...u gonna need it.

Compaq sr1710nx el426aa, desktop.wiped HD.have factory cds. Willnot restore.bios. checksum issue. Due to. HD not also have bios #'s 3.14 & 3.15.wont restore. HELP!!

If you wiped HD, why are you messing with bios? If it is not corrupted (bios), just use factory cd-s to restore the system (or re install the system, if restore is not possible).

Reset bios

Installing a fresh operating system is a good option, and there might be a feature in the BIOS to restore the system to factory defaults. Information on how to do this:

Windows XP: Dell PC Restore

Using PC Restore:

1. Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top
of the screen.

2. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>.
If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish
starting, and then restart the computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot.

3. Click Restore and click Confirm.
The restore process takes approximately 6 to 10 minutes to complete.

4. When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer
completely reboot.

5. When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts.

Because the computer is restored to its original
operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License
Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the computer
was turned on.

6. Click Next.
The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.

7. After the computer restarts, click OK.

Resetting a consumer desktop/laptop to factory settings is fairly straight-forward. Follow the steps below to reinstall the OS and drivers.
Before beginning, here are the items you will need:
A. Computer/laptop B. Microsoft Windows OS CD/DVD
1. Power on your computer. 2. Insert the Windows OS CD/DVD in to the optical drive. 3. Restart the computer and boot from the CD/DVD when prompted. 4. Follow the installation prompts to complete the install. 5. Once completed, eject the CD/DVD and perform a Windows Update to update the system and any drivers you may be missing.

I got a Dell optiplex gx260 pc.so is not booting from the bios.its comming an error(there's no booting device activated). so how can i update the bios ..? plzzz help meeeeee

Did you try to boot from the repair CD?
Or did you try to restore Computer to it's original conditions?
Except for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, remove all external peripherals including:
  • Scanner
  • Printer
  • Modem or Network cables
  • Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
  • USB flash drive or other external Hard Drive
  • Any other external devices (e.g., USB-attached devices)
  • Remove the computer from the docking station, if you are using one

  • 1. Turn on Computer and as the computer starts press <F8> on the keybord until the advanced Boot Option menu appears (you have to do this before the windows logo comes up) If you don't see advanced Boot option menu, reset PC and repeat <F8> till you get it.
Enter, select you language and log on as user with administrator rights. Select Dell Factory restore and then reformat and restore system software to factory conditions.
This action will erase all data on drive C:\
Normally the first action would be to backup the data.
If it's a new one with warranty I would contact Dell support for assistency.

Configuration error after trying to restore system

Go into system restore under windows system tools and rest your restore point to one prior to restoring your computer to original factory condition. Then wait until you can determine which configuration error is the problem and then restore to original settings. Good Luck

HP a810n will not boot up

On most HP's and Compaq's you can restore the machine by pressing F11 when you see the HP/Compaq screen when you first turn the machine on.
There is a hidden recovery partition on your harddrive and your machine will be restored to the condition it was in when you bought it, the only problem with that is it will delete any personal files you have on the machine like photo's and music.
If you want I can talk you through recovering your personal files before attempting the restore, it will involve removing your harddrive from your computer and linking it to another computer.
