Well , go the web browse and put the default ip idress for the router which is 192.168.1.1 , then put the user name and the password, so u can logon ( default user name is : admin) and sometimes the password is : password) but just check your configuration notes coz may be i changed this, after you logon to the router you will see the setting and there is security and wirless security, if you need security for wirless just create name for your wirless and add password. if its general security just enable and disable buttoms, but donot forgot to save the changes.
Best Regards

With the wrt54g you need to open a internet browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1
a security screen will pop up to which the username is "admin" and the password is either "admin or blank, (unless you specified otherwise when running the install.

once in click wireless then security in the sub menu (under the wireless link you just clicked) then fill in the boxes

Can't get my son's hp Mini to connect to our router. Secured or not. It has worked on other routers before.

My guess would be that the 'dynamic' IP address cannot be resolved properly on your home network: try using a Fixed/Hardcoded IP address in TCP/IP Internet Protocol for your son HP Mini. Let me know how you go.

I have a linksys WRT54G wireless router set-up. The problem is when I add the security features (to keep the neighbours from hijacking my signal) my son's MAC laptop and Play Station 3 won't work.

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router Issue Allows 1 Computer at a time

Your router my not be DCHP enabled or it might not be assigning the IP addresses either.

I would do a reset and start all over with your security settings and see if that works. Worst case scenario you could always turn security off when your parents or others are there.

Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.

I have Time Warner Cable for internet and Vontage cable for my phone thru my internet. I'm trying to connect a Linksys router for my wireless laptop. I also have a Netgear switch connected to Time Warner...

If you purchased a Linksys wireless roter then you shoul not need the switch anymore-
Try going directly from your time warner modem into the Interner/WAN port on the router and then plug your desktop computer and the vontage phone system into 2 of the ports on the router. After everything is hooked up you will probably need to power cycle for it all to work correctly.
Please power cycle in this order:

Reboot modem - then Router- then Vontage phone system.

Hope this helps

Linksysy asks for a network key (Wep key or WPA key)

1. Using a computer that is wired to the router, access the router's setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address field of your browser.
2. By default there is no username and password is admin.
3. Once you're in the setup page, click wireless then there is a sub tab there called wireless security.
4. You will find there the wireless key that is enabled in your router.
