Water built up in Maytag Washer Model MAV-17

This 5-year old top load washer has a water built up about 2 inches in the drum over one week, the water drips off from the top - between the lid's hinges. I'd like to thank in advance for any bright ideas.

I would check the water valves or the water lines. If the water valve is leaking, the water could be running out and following down the cabinet then in to the tub, or the water valve water line that leads right in to the tub there for leaving a water build up.

Leaking water on spincycle

I have the same problem with my washer. The problem just began a few weeks ago. It is splashing out the front left corner of the tub and running down the inside of washer and then leaking out the bottom of the frame. It is just enough water to be annoying. The washer is about 6 years old.
