The problem is with the corrupted boot files and some system files .In my opinion you have one solution
Steps for solution

1. Download an operating system called ' Linux mint ' which can be installed in the pen drive having minimum 4 gb capacity . Using this operating system you can access the computer .

2. Copy the file and folders to an external storage device (external hard disk, pen drive etc..)

3. Reinstall the operating system ( XP,Vista ,Window 7,Ubuntu etc )

Hope you be successful

HELP dell inspiron 531s boots to message cmos "checkum error" and freezes

It is possible that the floppy drive has failed and that it is causing an error as at boot up the cmos is unable to complete the required tests that it performs and brings u the error to alert you to a problem. This is an easy fix but before I continue I will ask you this. Think about when was the last time you used your floppy drive?

If you replied with can't remember or ages ago then it is time you disable your floppy drive as it is now virtually an obsolete piece of hardware and secondly the actual drives are no longer made for internal use anymore the USB counterparts are just as good if not better.

If you answered just the other day then it is most likely that it has failed and that you will still have to follow y fix and purchase a USB external floppy drive.

The Fix :

Ok start up the computer and when you get the chance to enter your cmos screen enter it then find where your floppy drive , hard drive setting are disable your floppy drive, then save your changes and exit let your pc restart and this should solve your problem if you do this and you still have the error occurring then please contact your pc's manufacturer for further technical assistance.

You are missing the OS.
If you have the restore CD's, use them to restore your Dell to original state, or you can order a set from Dell.
If you do not have a restore CD's you can also boot with a Windows CD and install the OS but you will have to go to the Dell website and download the drivers for your model.
I hope this helped.
Good luck and have a pleasent day.

My Dell Inspiron worked fine yesterday, but after charging the battery over night and attempting to restart it, all I can get is "operating system not found." What can I do to get my...

What the computer is telling you is that the device it accessed does not have a Operating system. If you have your boot sequence set in your BIOS to access a Floppy disk first, a CD drive second a USB drive third and then your HD last, or any sequence above, then for instance if you left a floppy disk in your machine and the computer was given instructions to check the boot of that first, then it did not find a system. Same goes for CD if you left a CD in your system.

First make sure that you did not leave any items in the drives, and try again. If that does not do it, go into your BIOS, F2, upon boot up and set your boot sequence. If you put your hard drive first and the machine still does not boot up then you have a corrupted boot sector on your drive and must do other things up to re-installing your system.

Turn on my computer Inspiron 530S starts to boot up gives the dell booting page then goes to 0 Diskette error choose F1 to continue and F2 to start setup. I have tried F2 and change it to no floppy disk...

Sounds like someone may have left a non-bootable floppy disk in the drive. Check to be sure there isn't a floppy in the drive. Also, when in setup, it's the boot order that you'll want to change.

Dell C600

Here goes, first download the A12 BIOS from this page or others,

Then, Run this file to make a bootable bios floppy disk. Reboot the laptop floppy will start dos mode, the updater will detect any bios newer then A12 and say finished without changing anything and come to an a: prompt.

type dir for a list of files on the floppy. If your typing gets you wierd symbols try holding the Fn key (lower left) lookfor the filename C600_A12.exe or somthing like this. type it at the a prompt exact. The bios flash will check system bios and ask your permission to revert back to A12. say Y.

Computer will reboot. take floppy out.

My batteries charge grat now, but I don't get all ythe settings pages in Bios that I should, It seems to hang when i enter Bios. Laptop works fine though. i have installed and tries all bios from A12 yo A23, the A12 seems to be the best. No problems from winXP.

First, can it boot into BIOS setup? This is DEL, Esc, F1, F2, or whatever key your user manual instructs; press the requisite key immediately after pressing the power switch. Second, can it boot from an emergency recovery disk from the floppy, or a boot CD from the CD drive?
