Question about RCA DRD485RG DirecTV DTV Receiver

Open Question

Local channels work when they want to on my Direct-TV

The signal is very strong on all my channels. By strong I mean the readings are in the high 90's to 100.  Transponder A 101 (32 total at 101) reads 94-100 in signal strength  Transponder B 119 degrees(11 at 119 degrees) 25-32 reads 51, 97, 0, 96, 0. 98, 0 98 in signal strength  I believe these are my local channels. These numbers will change were the rest will stay steady.   Transponder C 110 degrees ( 3 at 110) all read 96 degrees in signal strength

The problem I have is that my local channels work some times and some times they don't. This happens to all four TV's in my house. I live in northeast Wisconsin. (Appleton,WI)  54915

Thanks for your help.

I live in Springfield, MO, and I have been having the same issue! For almost a week, no local channels. I called 4 times to DirectTV and after hours of investigating they set me up with an onsite appointment. The day before he was scheduled to arrive the channels came back on. So, we cancelled the onsite. Now, 2 days later, we have lost them again! This is so aggravating!

SOURCE: have dish receiver 510, channels i need are on

Donna,
I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I am assuming you have another receiver in the house that is an HD receiver as the 510 is not and it would not make any sense for you to have the 129 orbital without it. If you go to the other receiver and are able to get transponder 21 on the 129 bird then the issue lies in either the cabling, connectors, barrels and or wall plate, or the 510 itself. Assuming you were good to go with the hi def receiver move it to the 510 location and see if you are able to still p/u the 21 transponder. If so, the 510 is bad and needs to be replaced. If not the problem lies in the aforementioned areas. if yoou are unable to get the 21 transponder on the hi def receiver also then more than likely the dish needs to be repeaked. If I can be of more assistance let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

My tv says no signal on one channel, how do i get that channel back ?

If you are getting an OTA signal, you should check your antenna, any amplifier or splitter and the station's status. The "No signal" message indicates that the signal is not strong enough to be resolved by the tuner.

1) Is your antenna pointing in the correct direction? Outdoor antennas can sometimes turn in the wind. Reset the antenna to the correct direction.

2) If you have a splitter dividing the signal between TVs or other devices, try a direct connection to the one TV that isn't receiving the channel. Similarly, if you have an amplifier in the system, try using the antenna without it. (I have seen an amplifier become a filter for select channels when damaged.) The only solution is to replace the device or omit it. (In my case, some channels require amplification; thus we replaced the amplifier.)

3) Has the station's local transmitter/repeater been damaged? Check their news feed. Towers fall and transmitter components can fail.

You could try and see if another tuner picks up the signal. Some low end tuners are more sensitive to signal strength. If you are getting the station from another source, check with the provider. We recently lost some of the local PBS stations due to problems with the cable provider's feed. Only one TV is connected to the set top box.

I hope this helps.

Will Mohu Leaf HDTV antenna work with TruTech PLV1615T?

It may simply be if only one local channel the signal is not strong enough for the set to pick up.

I recently bought an Xbox 360 and plugged it into the back of my TV. However, the TV refuses to show anything from the Xbox 360. I tried Autoprogramming it, and it erased all of my channels except for 1,...

MOST of their older sets are set up where the AV inputs are channels 90-93 ; if you had no signal other than the game the set will skip all those channels out.

If you have a working remote for it direct enter 90-93 one at a time .

Nothing hooked to cable fitting means set will see no signal and skip them out when auto program is engaged.

I have an Apex digital 32" LCD TV Model LD 3249 and Serial #36056009262 Is this a high definition TV

Yes. 720p High-Def capable.

Remember you have to have a High-Def signal source to actually view High-Definition video. This means local broadcast TV in HD or digital cable TV with HD service and a HD channel or satellite or a Bluray Disc.

first of all, make sure all your connections are secure and threaded all the way in. Next, go to the main menu and press 5 (configuration) and press 1 (search for channels) if this doesn't work, press 4(signal strength meter) and see how strong your signal is. You may just need to re-position your antennae. If all else fails try system reset(number 5) and repeat search for channels. I've had similiar experiences with mine but I have a 62% signal strength and still get 20-something channels. Hope this helps.

Missing channels on my Goodmans GFSAT200HD

I had this problem, a total reset did the trick. Unplug everything, (mains, video and LNB) and then hold the power button for 30seconds, then plug the LNB, video (HDMI/Scart), and power back in (in that order). Then the problem should be solved. If it isn't try running the first time installation again. If it still doesnt work I can't help sorry.

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...

Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
The customer service reps at DirecTV usually idiots reading from a script with no real field experience.

Power went out while tv & Direct TV was on

The garbage on your unused channels are not important, just artifacts from signals not strong enough to produce a picture.
The 'blue screen' on #3 is what many sets use when they sense they are connected (terminated) to 'something' but not receiving any signal.

If sounds a lot like DTV's receiver took a hit.

If you have a second set you can borrow or drag to the receiver, try it first but I don't think it is your problem unless the cable input on it was zapped.
