Most notebooks either have their video processor on the motherboard, or have a mini-card that is specific to the particular notebook model. Generally, they are not upgradable (unlike desktop PCs). You MIGHT be able to share more notebook memory with the video system. It's a setting in the BIOS setup, if it's even available.

Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5084 CPU upgrade

It is possible but usually not worth the hassle.
Changing to another CPU chip that fits your motherboard may only show a 3-10% performance change.

See videos of CPU replacement in laptops like yours:

In general, you are better off adding more RAM (memory) or replacing the hard drive with a faster SSD (Solid State Drive) to make a laptop "fly". Your laptop can hold a max of 8 GB RAM:

http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Toshiba-memory/Satellite+C655+Series/Satellite+C655D-S5084-upgrades.html

In MOST laptops, slower 5400 RPM drives are used, and this is the main performance bottleneck. A 7200 RPM drive or (better yet) a SSD drive will help matters, as will more RAM (the most cost-effective speed increase).

DRIVER FOR SOUND CARD

1. Go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download
2. Select your laptop make and model in the pull-down boxes.
3. Press go and it should take you to the page containing all the drivers for your machine. The sound card driver should be about the fourth one down.
4. Click the driver underneath the title column and click download on the next page. To save time, I copied and pasted the exact link below so you can bookmark it. Hope this helps!

I am asking for driver for my Toshiba laptop satellite L20 - 101 display driver ( Video Controller )

If you were to log on to the toshiba.com web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

The information is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

I could be wrong, but most laptops have all the peripherals intergraded into the motherboard in order to get such a slim profile all on one board. The sound card, video card, network card, and all are non removable and non replaceable. When it comes time to upgrade, then you'll have to start looking for another laptop. Sometimes though, Toshiba will have driver upgrades on their website for new features and fixes.
