Maytag dryer overheated and won't turn on now

My dryer overheated and wont turn on now. The lint trap was a mess( I blame husband and kids!). I have cleaned it out and don't know where to look next. Not sure where the thermostats are to try replacing them. If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. The laundry is taking over my house!

Tried that and still nothing. I am afraid it is the motor. Is that worth fixing or should we just trash it? Can't really afford a new one right now, but not sure what else to do.

You need to open the top lid. There are two piins that release it(located where the top and front meet) lift it up and you will see the element on the top left, to the right side you will see two WHITE wires, they go to the thermal fuse. You can atach them and then plug the dryer in and see if it starts. When it does, you will need to order the thermal fuse kit.
Before you begin make sure to UNPLUG the dryer!!!!!!

Takes about 4 hours to dry any load. Have tried different settings. Husband cleaned lint traps, hoses, etc. Gas turns on and shuts off about every couple of minutes. Any ideasa?

Most likely problem is the exhaust is plugged. Lint build up and eventually restricted the humid exhaust air.

To test for this locate the exhaust vent where it exits the house. With the dryer running feel for the air flow. It should be similar to the flow you feel from hair dryer.

Second test is to light load the dryer setting the heat to high and after several minutes of operation open the door and confirm the clothes are hot to the touch.

Hot clothes and no air flow for ever to dry!!

  1. Remove hose from wall connection. Confirm vent hose not plugged by running dryer. Very dusty process. If no air step 2.
  2. Remove vent hose from back of dryer. Confirm air flow from dryer. Very dusty process. No air step 3.
  3. Service dryer blower likely plugged with lint. If dryer basket turns I would assume blower is also turning connected by drive belt. The blockage internal to dryer.
  4. So if not 1,2 or 3 than blocked vent hose to the outside . Suggest using a vacuum hose to carefully try to retrieve lint build up. Lets hope that it is not a roof vent because it would really suck trying to pull the blockage out. And unless your Santa roof tops are dangerous places to play.
  5. Well at least at this point we know why the clothes are not getting dry. What ever you do do not breach the venting in the walls. Moisture will build up along with the lint and create havic with mold!!!
  6. Call your husband

My husbands wedding ring fell into the lint trap of our Maytag front loading dryer. Anyone know how we can get it out?

You can remove the lint filter to retrieve the RING, please do not put the machine to any wash until the filter and drain pump is removed and checked.

Maytag Neptune Dryer is taking over an hour to dry a load

Check the exhaust vent out back of dryer to see if exhaust pipe going outside is crimped or blocked. Let me know if air flow is better if pipe is pulled off back of dryer. Thanks, Sea Breeze

How do I remove the lint trap holder to clean out the lint inside

The font panel must be removed. This may be done by removing the control console (open upper cabinet doors to find screws behind the console). The screws along the top of the lower front panel are easily accessible. Disconnect the two interlock switches, remove the grounding clip attached to the bulkhead & lift the panel off the two lower clips. Inside the panel is a housing that leads to the exhaust blower. It will be packed with lint that may be hardened like papier mache. Just clean out the mess & reverse the process to replace the parts.

Maytag neptune dryer wont restart mde 3000 aya

Your dryer needs a new motor. It should cost about $200-250 including labor. Call a local repairman - not a national company. Give him the model number and ask him to bring the motor with him.

Good luck!
