I'm not sure now it is the belt or not, been fiddling with it. Might need a new printer, not sure. I gave you helpful rating. TY

I'm not sure who made the last comment but I did talk to Leothegenius and he told me to purchase a flat green Scanner Chip. It sits on the scanner control board. I have sent an email to a company that has parts but they are not open yet. Generally I can not see why the belt would slip since it looks very good and I have tightened it slightly by expanding the spring on the left. The carriage generally shakes like crazy like the motor is getting too much voltage and running to fast in the Retract Mode after scanning for sending a fax. All other functions work properly. I dont mine doing the work the hard problem will be finding a new chip and also finding where to put it on my printer however Leo showed me a pic of what it looks like. I just need to go further into disassembly of the unit. Step at a time. I will try HP parts to see if they have and exploded diagram for the unit. There customer support needs allot of improvement helping customers on TS when it is something other than software. They seem not to have much hands on experience.

The 3310 parts are not distributed anymore.

This is one of biggest sellers, and does not have any part listed for 3310:HP Photosmart Printer Parts.

The only option is grabbing spares from Ebay, like this one below:

Buy the whole scrap and fix your printer, if the belt was slipping check also the encoder strip.

    Thanks for rating .

On my HP 1050C Designjet I am getting the error 'Check printhead path Type 2. Then it says to switch off.

Hello. The "Check Print Head Path" error is usually a worn out carriage belt on printers more than 5 years old. Open the top cover and examine the area under the belt and look for debris that looks like pencil erasure crumbs. Other possible problems could be the tube system catching on something as the carriage moves, the encoder strip being very dirty or extreme friction between the carriage bushings and the rails they move on. If the belt needs to be replaced, a replacement kit can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-790-hp-designjet-belt-replacement-kits.aspx
Hope this helps.

Check printhead path

Check for free carriage motion by unplugging the printer while the carriage is in the print area of the plotter. Open the top cover and move the carriage to check for free movement. If there are rubber crumbs under the belt, the belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. Manual can be downloaded from: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm

Broken Belt

Find the manufacturer's part number for the part you need.  You can order it from the manufacturer, or check eBay where you may find a better price.  Here's the link to the HP Parts Store, Fax/Copiers/Scanners: http://tinyurl.com/rbuotv

Switch power off check printhead (1)

Good morning. The CHECK PRINT HEAD PATH error is caused by the sensors on the print head carriage sending signals to the electronics that the carriage speed is incorrect. Generally, this is a mechanical problem caused by an obstruction, such as a paper jam or some other item in the paper path. However, the most common reason for the error is a worn out carriage belt. Look under the belt to see if there is debris resembling pencil erasure crumbs. If the crumbs are present, your belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced. The parts can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-654-designjet-1050c-1055cm.aspx

Replacement carriage belt for HP DesignJet 800 Printer

It is not recommended that the user replace the carriage belt, on any HP printer. Any damage caused by the user, won't be covered by the warranty and will likely result in a completely useless, but very expensive doorstop. Or paperweight..

I do believe your printer has since been discontinued for support, however only an HP Customer Service Representative would be able to confirm that. I would suggest phoning HP for technical support or to at least confirm whether support is available.

Even if your printer is no longer a) under warranty, which I suspect it's not, or b) out of support completely, they may be able to provide you with a list of Authorized Service Providers (ASPs) within your area.

HP Design Jet 3500 cp Replacement of Carriage belt

very carefully, if you can find a belt replacement. i would be surprized if you can find the part. this printer has been out of production for quite some time. remove the left cover, remove the right cover, (you need torx drivers #'s 8,9,10,15,20,25) on the left side, remove the encoder strip, lock the belt tensioner, remove the screws to remove the belt tensioner, remove the carriage assembly, don't forget to remove the trailing cables, make sure you replace the belt exactly the way it came off the carriage assembly and reverse the process to put it all back together. if you can find a certified repair person who can find the parts and has the tools, that might be the way to go. this repair should cost $300-400. if the repair person knows what they are doing. hope this helps.
