Can not get the drivers for my lexmark 1100 to load o/s vista

I suggest emailing lexmark and telling them u need a disc for a Lexmark X2550 printer. Maybe tell em yours didnt come with one when u bought it and be firm...or you can continue to try and download it from the internet.

If you just connected the printer to your Vista PC, the drivers probably didn't load.
If you haven't yet, you need to install the Lexmark drivers first before you can use your printer. Unplug the printer before installing, then plug it in when prompted by the software.

I took a look for that printer, and you cant make it work coz that 1100 isent compabile with vista. There are some models in that 1100 serie, but the 1100 isent one of them. Here is the ones that works with vista:
X1110, X1130, X1140, X1150, X1155, X1160, X1170, X1180, X1185, X1190, X1195
As you can see yours isent one of them, thats what they say on lexmarks site to.

You need to install the driver software form disk before connecting the printer.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, findthe file, double click on the file , then if you get introubles, followthe instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vistaon your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

This is what Lexmark says to do if you are having trouble loading your drivers:

(a)Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

Did you just install windows Vista?? If you did, disconnect the printer from the computer and reload the lexmark driver. Windows will pop up a message saying that it doesn't recognize the software being loaded. Click to load anyway. The instructions will tell you when it is ok to connect the printer.

Vista tries to install istall its own driver for anything you connect to you computer. Always install the products driver before installing the device.

Seems to be the same driver as the 1100 model.

vista doesn't like non-microsoft software. It will tell you that the lexmark software is not supported. Click install anyway. Do this before plugging in the printer or vista will assign it's own driver. Which wont work. Then go into the control panel and select the lexmark as the default printer
