Question about Pentair Mastertemp Pool & Spa Heater Dual Electronic Ignition 400,000 Btu Lonox Propane 460737
A friend had a new control panel put on to operate the pool. It's not an Aqua Link, I think it's an Intella Touch. Everything works with the remote and at the panel from the service position except the heater.
The electrician says that he has power from the panel to the heater but the control panel will is dead on the heater. The power on light does not come on when you push the power button nor does anything else light up on it??
I am away from the property now, so I can't look at it but I know it's a gas heater and I believe that it's a Pentair 400. I remember that it has a touch pad type control panel on the front of the unit and there is a door that opens to expose the, board, wiring, etc.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem might be? The friend says that the heater worked prior to changing the controls so we have been guessing that the electrician may have wired something wrong or he may have fried the board in the heater?? Any thoughts please.
Obviously, we are going to have a second electrician look at the wiring but past that we would like some direction.
Typically the intellitouch controller is wired to the "fireman" switch on the heater. If the switch is not closed the heater will not turn on. If the heater was wired to the controller through the power supply rather than the fireman switch and the fireman switch is not bypassed at the heater the problem you describe would be created.

The service light would mean that the control is running in service mode. You manually control each component when operating in service mode...it is made for technicians to be able to isolate various circuits when trying to troubleshoot the equipment.
Put the unit into auto mode and the equipment should go back to running normally according to the program.
For more on your control, check out the Jandy website on your product here.
