after having problems playing the files on my iriver (iti did not play any mp3 files) i deleted and formated it. Now when I add any files on it is does not see them at all. As long as it is connected to my PC they are there and can be played with Wndows Media Player, after I disconnect it - irever does not show any files either in the music mode or in the browse mode.

use the onboard format because it might need certain files to be loaded.

Try and reformat using the FAT32 system. If windows will not let you try swissknife which can be downloaded here http://www.compuapps.com/Download/swissknife/swissknife.htm

Hope this helps

Why won't it recognise external hard drive?

Your external hard drive is probably formatted in Microsoft's NTFS format. Older TVs do not recognize this file system.

Try to connect to the TV a Hard Drive formatted in the FAT32 file system. It is possible to convert NTFS drives to FAT32, using a computer.

Note: Even if the TV will recognize the Hard Drive, it may or may not play the files (videos, movies, music) stored on the drive. Check the TV's manual for the supported files.

I have couple of XD cards which i formatted on my computer and now they won't work in my Fijifilm z10fd camera anymore. I gather that his is because I should have formatted them using the camera rather...

the only thing I can suggest is that you try formatting them on PC again, but choose different format option. I think you can choose between 2 formatting options NTFS, and FAT32, but if cards are un-usable anyway try both settings and see if this helps.

I am having a problem installing all of my songs into the device

I put my e280 into msc mode so you are able to see the player's folder in windows explorer then I formatted it from there once this had completly formatted I disconnected the player and returned it to mtp usb mode and then re-connected it to my PC.
It recognised the player and gave two options to sync with library I chose sync permanently with current library and it began to install music from the library.

Cannot send from computer to my phone via bluetooth

Have you formatted the memory card? You will be able to do this via the menu and settings. It could be phone is not recognising the card as it is not formatted.
Also look in menu ( iam not too familiar with menu of this phone) for the option to change default save location for files. Some phones have the option to change this. If its set to phone that could be the reason?
Another solution is does your PC have a SD card reader? If you have a Micro SD to SD converter you could insert memory card straight into PC and just drag and drop files. Its a lot quicker than Bluetooth. (be carefull which folders you drop into, as for phone to recognise the files the MP3's & sound files need to be in a 'music folder' - MP4's & 3GP's need to be in 'video folder' and so on.)
Hope that helps?

Window XP does not recognize my H340 after battery change.

H340 should show as a removable disk drive. Ensure it is formatted as Fat32, run chkdsk, or scandisk. Does the H340 boot into play mode? you did not say. I replaced my battery with no problems... so if it boots Ok it is a non-related fault.

Nokia 6288 / format memory card

MMC puchased should be formatted once, because new MMC comes with file system FAT-32. and mobile phones supports FAT file system. You can copy your data from MMC to PC using MMC reader/writer first. Then format it in your mobile and then reload your data in formatted MMC at folder created during formatting. Then you may see your MMC working properly. Fix your problem and vote here to fixya for solution....

Formating problems

The H140 needs to be formatted as a fat32 file system for the players firmware to recognise it. To check which file system you have formatted to connect your player to your pc and go to > my computer >right click on your player > then click on properties. It will tell you what file system you have. Windows will only format to ntfs file systems, so if you need to reformat you will need to download Swissknife http://www.compuapps.com/download/Swissknife/swissknife.htm (its free :-) )and use it to reformat your player.
