Question about Samsung HT-BD2R 7.1 Channel Blu-ray Home Theatre System Theater System

Region codes Do you have a region code to unlock the samsung HT-BD2. I tried the tip probably 50 times wit no success. in the process, after disk is inserted, screen becomes black, then a splash screen appears ("wrong zone" kind of message, white on black window pop-up), the "eject disk" on top left corner of screen while disk is ejected at same time. could anyone, who has succeeded with the tip, explain precisely when to press the "repeat" button on remote and when to type the 76884 sequence, and what to do afterwards. note: I'm based in France, and usually, Samsung players require a different code depending of zone you are in, initially - maybe a reason why I don't succeed ? I've tried 38767 and 57538 for zone 2 with no success (as 76884 is also code for some Samsung players in zone 4 = Australia, initial region for this tip) additional question: some tip may work for DVD. But would this work for Blu-Ray too (I mean: unlock zone for Blu-Ray) ? Many thanks.

is there anybody from Europe (region 2) who solved this region problem on an HT-BD2 ?
I have the HT-BD2ER 5.1 version, in France, with latest firmware loaded.

Some tips I've seen, or received today, refer to code 76884 and ways to switch from "region 4 to 9" (... which is Australia)
    http://www.fixya.com/support/t564436-reg...
    http://www.fixya.com/support/t1728727-re...

Unfortunately, I've tried again this morning an additional 20 times.
this tip does not work for me (in France),
    - either because of wrong timing (when exactly press "repeat" button?)
    - or because of codes (I tried again today codes 38767 or 57538 which seem to usually work for other Samsung devices in region 2)

    Thx.

Make sure the player is switched on, and is at the Samsung logo
screen. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the
player.

Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit
code. This code is different depending on what region your player is
*currently* set to:

R1 - 29334
R2 - 38767
R3 - 56732
R4 - 76884
R5 - 53814
R6 - 24462

So for example if you have an R2 player, press REPEAT-3-8-7-6-7.

If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the
hack), you should see a number at the top left corner of the screen
corresponding to the current region.

Now, pressing any number from 1 to 6 will change to the corresponding
region. Or, press 9 for auto-region mode.

Next, press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, followed by Standby (or DVD
POWER) on the remote to close it and put the player into Standby mode.
The next time you turn your player on, the new region will be set.

Don't forget that if you want to hack it again, you'll need to use a
different code, as listed above. If it's currently set to region 9,
use the code for the last *proper* region you set it to. Bought one in Australia, Region 4. Took me a number of times before the hack
worked for me, especially since there was no visual feedback. By chance, I
switched to composite video output (not component video) and I did see the
region number show up as described and that finally worked - tested a region 1
DVD.

Blue Ray disk cannot be made Region free using region hacks, there is no hack for this player yet.

Read : Samsung HT-BD2

Also Read here.

I do not think there is any way to make this region free.

As I told you there is no way to make this BR region free, the 76884 solution was posted by mistake, that will unlock a Samsung DVD drive BDP1400, not a blue ray.
    See: Samsung Bdp1400.

Your blue ray cannot be made multiregion, see : Samsung HT-BD2

This will make it a region free dvd player but as yet there are no hacks to make region free blu-ray. i will post back if i hear of any.

• Eject Disc – Display No Disc on screen

• Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds (On my remote this only worked using the second button from bottom right hand corner of remote)

• Press 76884
+ After entering those 5 digits, you should apparently see a number in the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region

• Press 4 to 9 for "auto-region" mode ie. Region Free

• Turn Off Machine

I have a Samsung HT BD2 region 4, I go many region 1, they wont play, how can I make it play?

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

Try the following:

1. Open tray and remove any disks in tray.
2. Close tray.
3. Switch Off Player and Unplug from mains wait 30 seconds (this clears RAM)
4. Reconnect to mains
5. Turn on player with remote.
6. Press ENTER on remote.
7. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9. Using keys on remote. If your player is already set to region 2
8. Press ENTER on remote. (The tray will open and player will power off and close tray.)
9. Switch on power from remote.

Player is now Region Free.

Region codes

While looking through some forum posts i found the way to fix the problem. It takes a bit of fiddling around but it does work... I tried it out last night.

Firstly you need to put a DVD of a different region into your player and wait for it to start to read the DVD before you commence the procedure... it takes a bit to get the timing right.

when the DVD can't be read it, on screen Eject Disc will come up

Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds (it may work using either repeat button on the bottom, i tried both.

Press 76884
After entering those 5 digits, you should see a number in the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region (4 being Australia region)

Press 9 for "auto-region" mode ie. Region Free
Turn Off Machine
and there you have it. The timing is crucial so start trying as soon as the DVD is in. It took me 5 goes before it worked.

You will notice that it may take a bit longer for the other Region DVDs to be read then normal but it's only a few seconds longer.
