Remove hdd password

You can change it but not 'remove' it. Simplest is to use '00000' as the default password.
Instructions
1 Shut down your computer.
2 Press the power button on your computer. While it is booting, press F2 repeatedly (do not just hold it down) until you arrive at a system screen showing a series of
options. This screen is called the BIOS Setup.

3 Use the down arrow key on your keyboard to scroll down to "Security" in the left-hand column.
4 Arrow right to display a sub-menu under Security in the left-hand column.
5 Arrow down to "Internal HD PW" in the left-hand column. (That stands for Internal Hard Drive Password.)
6 Delete the old password (if any) and, in the same box, enter a new password of at least four characters in length in the main screen at right.
7 Write the password down and keep it in a safe place.
8 Hit Enter.
9 Hit the Escape button on your keyboard to exit the Internal HD PW menu, then hit Escape again to proceed to the Exit screen of the BIOS Setup.
10 Arrow right to save the changes you made to the password, then hit Enter on your keyboard to exit the BIOS Setup.
11 Restart your computer and use the password you created in the BIOS Setup to gain access to your hard drive.

How do i unlock a compaq

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

Restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

if this fails to remove your password

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password
also
if you are not the computer administrator and have not assigned a bios password during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there also click start control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control can change the password there

hope this helps you

Next step is remove hard drive and see if it is recognized in another computer. The Hard Drive could just be bad, but you need to rule out the motherboard drive controllers that could also be bad. Also try a known good drive in your system.

Password

Computers that have been setup with a power on password are virtually impossible to guess if you have forgotten the password.
Password protection is setup to prevent people accessing the computer without authorisation. There are no backdoor passwords you can use to get in.

Password protection is usually set up on two levels, first on boot up and second it may also include a password on the hard drive. This is to prevent the hard drive being taken out of a computer and inserting into another (it won't work in another computer).

If the password is saved in the BIOS then it is possible to remove the password by removing the BIOS battery for 1/2 + hour, then reinsert the battery and configure the BIOS again with the date. time, etc. and allow to to boot up into Windows.
Laptops such as IBM Thinkpads, Compaqs use a EEPROM chip to store these passwords and removing the BIOS battery won't work. If you are skilled electronically, you can build a piece of hardware and with a program read the contents of the EEPROM to identify the password, then use this password to get into the computer and then if you can remove the power up password and/or hard disk password or change them.

I forgot d password on my hard drive and i need 2 no how to load windows without enterin the password

you have few options for login to windows, without entering a password.

1. Add another hard drive to your machine, then try to boot through this hard drive. you just go to your hard drives in my computer and open your system drive (here the volume name may be different).

go to system32(windows xp) in your hard drive and you will find one file "SAM". now remove that file.

after deleting the file. you have to reboot your machine, now login to your windows. here you can login without providing the password.

2. this is the second option, commonly helpful for all. downloading the password recovery boot software. by using of this option you can find the same thing without provide the password.

thank you.

Assuming you are talking about logging in to Windows XP here are some things you can try:

Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional in a workgroup loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Log on as an administrator. a. Restart the computer, and then after the Power On Self Test (POST), press the F8 key. b. On the Windows Advanced Options menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER. c. Select Microsoft Windows XP edition, and then press ENTER.

Note In this step, edition represents the correct Windows edition. d. On the To begin, click your user name screen, click Administrator, and then type the administrator password. e. Press ENTER, and then click Yes. 2. Reset the password. a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. b. Click User Accounts, and then click the name of the user account that you want to reset the password for. c. Click Change the Password, and then type a new password. Note If you do not want to use a password, click Remove password, and then continue to step "e." d. Click Change Password. e. Restart the computer, and then try to log on to Windows XP again.Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305

If that doesn't work, there is a more drastic way to do this:

you can easily change or wipe out your Administrator password for free during a Windows XP Repair. Here’s how with a step-by-step description of the initial Repair process included for newbie’s. 1. Place your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)
2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”
3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.

4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now
5. The Licensing Agreement comes next - Press F8 to accept it.
6. The next screen is the Setup screen which gives you the option to do a Repair.

It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it”
Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.
7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.
8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds”
9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is highlighted.
10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.
11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.
12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password as you prefer. If you want to log on without having to enter your new password, you can type control userpasswords2 at the prompt and choose to log on without being asked for password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit the command box and continue on with the Repair (have your Product key handy).
13. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.
I tested the above on Windows XP Pro with and without SP1 and also used this method in a real situation where someone could not remember their password and it worked like a charm to fix the problem. This security hole allows access to more than just user accounts. You can also access the Registry and Policy Editor, for example. And its gui access with mouse control. Of course, a Product Key will be needed to continue with the Repair after making the changes, but for anyone intent on gaining access to your system, this would be no problem.
And in case you are wondering, NO, you cannot cancel install after making the changes and expect to logon with your new password.
Cancelling will just result in Setup resuming at bootup and your changes will be lost.
Ok, now that your logon problem is fixed, you should make a point to prevent it from ever happening again by creating a Password Reset Disk. This is a floppy disk you can use in the event you ever forget your log on password. It allows you to set a new password.
Here's how to create one if your computer is NOT on a domain:
  • Go to the Control Panel and open up User Accounts.
  • Choose your account (under Pick An Account to Change) and under Related Tasks, click "Prevent a forgotten password".
  • This will initiate a wizard.
  • Click Next and then insert a blank formatted floppy disk into your A: drive.
  • Click Next and enter your logon password in the password box.
  • Click Next to begin the creation of your Password disk.
  • Once completed, label and save the disk to a safe place
How to Log on to your PC Using Your Password Reset Disk
Start your computer and at the logon screen, click your user name and leave the password box blank or just type in anything. This will bring up a Logon Failure box and you will then see the option to use your Password Reset disk to create a new password. Click it which will initiate the Password Reset wizard. Insert your password reset disk into your floppy drive and follow the wizard which will let you choose a new password to use for your account.
